1. Applications of Structural Bioinformatics for the Structural Genomics Era
Sammanfattning : Structural bioinformatics deals with the analysis, classification and prediction of three-dimensional structures of biomacromolecules. It is becoming increasingly important as the number of structures is growing rapidly. LÄS MER
2. The hematopoietic transcription factor RUNX1 : a structural view
Sammanfattning : The malfunction of the transcriptional regulator RUNX1 is the major cause of several variants of acute human leukemias and its normal function is to regulate the development of the blood system in concert with other transcriptional co-regulators. RUNX1 belongs to a conserved family of heterodimeric transcription factors that share a conserved DNA binding domain, the Runt domain (RD), named after the first member of this group – Runt - found in Drosophila melanogaster. 3. Transthyretin from a structural perspective
Sammanfattning : Conformational changes in human proteins can induce several types of diseases. The nature of the conformational changes is largely unknown, but some lead to amyloid fibril formation. Amyloid fibrils accumulate in the extra-cellular space of tissues resulting in disruption of organ function. LÄS MER
4. Industrial Dynamics and Regional Structural Change : Geographical Perspectives on Economic Evolution
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the process of economic transformation taking place in Sweden since the mid 1970s. Especially, it is concerned with how and why benefits that firms and industries draw from regional co-location with other actors (agglomeration externalities) vary over stages of economic transformation. 5. Elucidating the molecular basis of Na+/H+ exchange
Sammanfattning : Solute carrier (SLC) transporters are membrane transport proteins, which catalyse the movement of nutrients, ions, and drugs across cell membranes. Here, I will present our contribution to understanding the mechanism of the sodium/proton exchangers (NHE), belonging to the SLC9 family of membrane transporters. LÄS MER
