    Sammanfattning : This thesis comprises a series of studies concerning occupational and environmental exposure to arsenic and some novel chronic health effects of this element, namely diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Substantial prevalence of the well-known skin manifestations of arsenic ingestion was also found to occur as a result of environmental exposure through drinking water. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Addition of iron oxide based adsorbents to arsenic contaminated soils has been proposed as a mean to reduce the mobility of arsenic in the soil. However, the conditions in the soil such as pH value, the presence of phosphate after addition of fertilizer to the soil or the presence of Zn (II) as a co-contaminant may affect the adsorption of arsenate on the iron oxide and may therefore have implications for the mobility of arsenic in the remediated soil.     Sammanfattning : Children with advanced neuroblastoma are at high risk for relapse of multidrug resistant disease, despite initial response to intensive multimodality treatment.
