  1. 11. Holocene climate change and peatland dynamics in southern Sweden based on tree-ring analysis of subfossil wood from peat deposits

    Författare :Johannes Edvardsson; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; The Holocene.; Peatland development; Scots pine; Palaeoclimatology; Dendrochronology; Subfossil trees; Raised bog; Palaeohydrology;

    Sammanfattning : Dendrochronological analysis was applied to subfossil remains of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) buried in South Swedish peat deposits. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Perspectives from a human-centred archaeology : Iron Age people and society on Öland

    Författare :Helene Wilhelmson; begravning och social identitet Gravarkeologiska forskargruppen – Död; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Osteology; bioarchaeology; Iron Age; Scandinavia; 3D; digital; Image Based Modeling; GIS; isotopes; Oxygen; Strontium; Carbon; Nitrogen; trophic level effect; fractionation; chronology; network; Virtual Taphonomy; human-centred archaeology; mortographies; dietary shift; integration; immigration; diet; migration; violence; burial; Viking Age; Öland; island;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this study was to develop, test and evaluate a specifically defined interdisciplinary approach—the human-centred approach—as applied to a case study, Iron Age Öland. Four themes were selected to highlight different aspects of particular interest in Öland: taphonomy, diet, migration, and social organization. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Pit lake water quality and hydrology : Insights from case studies and modelling of pit lakes in northern Sweden

    Författare :Oscar Paulsson; Anders Widerlund; Lars Lövgren; Adam P. Jarvis; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tillämpad geokemi; Applied Geochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : As extraction techniques are improving an increased number of low grade deposits can be economically mined. However, this also means that the number of open pit mines will increase and as a result the number of pit lakes as well. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Silicic Magma Genesis in Basalt-dominated Oceanic Settings : Examples from Iceland and the Canary Islands

    Författare :Sylvia E. Berg; Valentin Troll; Steffi Burchardt; Frances Deegan; Morten Riishuus; Nicholas Arndt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Silicic magmatism; Iceland; magma-crust interaction; proto-continental crust; early Earth; zircon geochronology and geochemistry; oxygen isotopes; 2011-2012 El Hierro eruption; crustal xenoliths; 3D X-ray μ-CT; volatiles; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Earth Science with specialization in Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Sammanfattning : The origin of silicic magma in basalt-dominated oceanic settings is fundamental to our understanding of magmatic processes and formation of the earliest continental crust. Particularly significant is magma-crust interaction that can modify the composition of magma and the dynamics of volcanism. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Diagenesis and Reservoir-Quality Evolution of Deep-Water Turbidites: Links to Basin Setting, Depositional Facies, and Sequence Stratigraphy

    Författare :Howri Mansurbeg; Sadoon Morad; Ihsan Al-Aasm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Bedrock geology; Diagenesis; reservoir quality; active margin; passive margin; depositional facies; sequence stratigraphy; Berggrundsgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : A study of the distribution of diagenetic alterations and their impact on reservoir-quality evolution in four deep-water turbidite successions (Cretaceous to Eocene) from basins in active (foreland) and passive margins revealed the impact of tectonic setting, depositional facies, and changes in the relative sea level. Diagenetic modifications encountered in the turbiditic sandstones from the passive margin basins include dissolution and kaolinitization (kaolin has δ18OV-SMOW = +13. LÄS MER
