11. Theoretical studies of collisions involving the H2 reaction complex
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, collisions involving the H2 reaction complex are studied theoretically and the processes considered are mutual neutralization, double charge transfer, associative ionization, dissociative recombination and resonant ion-pair formation. These processes are examples of reactions that involve several excited states and where the Born-Oppenheimer approximation is not applicable. LÄS MER
12. Abiotic and biotic methane dynamics in relation to the origin of life
Sammanfattning : Methane (CH4) plays an important role in regulating Earth’s climate. Its atmospheric concentrations are related to both biotic and abiotic processes. The biotic one can be formed either by chemoautotrophic or heterotrophic pathways by methanogens. LÄS MER
13. Young stars and outflows : case studies of three different regions
Sammanfattning : Mass is clearly the most important parameter of a star as it determines the phases it will go through, its physical parameters, the elements produced and its life span. Two important processes that occur simultaneously in young stars are directly related to the final mass a star ends up with; the accretion of material onto the star from a circumstellar disk and the bipolar outflow of material from the star. 14. Catalytic partial oxidation of methane over nickel and ruthenium based catalysts for GTL applications
Sammanfattning : The Gas to Liquids (GTL) process is an important alternative for monetizing natural gas through the production of long-chain liquid hydrocarbons, e.g. diesel fuel. LÄS MER
15. Modeling Auto-Ignition, Flame Propagation and Combustion in Non-Stationary Turbulent Sprays
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on detailed numerical studies of spray formation, auto-ignition, envelope flame development and combustion in a simple two-dimensional axi-symmetric geometry. A Lagrangian -- Eulerian formulation is used to analyze the droplet motion and gas flow field. LÄS MER
