16. The Effect of Long Range Order on Elastic Properties of Alloys
Sammanfattning : Ab initio alloy theory, formulated within the exact muffin-tin orbitals method in combination with the coherent-potential approximation, is used to determine the effect of long range order on the elastic properties. The lattice parameters and single-crystal elastic constants of Cu3Au are calculated for different partially ordered structures ranging from the fully ordered L12 to the random face centered cubic lattice. 17. Elastic Properties of Nanowires - an Atomistic Evaluation
Sammanfattning : Nanowires constitute one of the fundamental building blocks in assembled nanodevices. Due to the high surface to volume ratio, the fraction of surface atoms is not negligible for nanosized elements. LÄS MER
18. Nonionic Microemulsions: Dependence on Oil Chain Length of the Surfactant Curvature Elastic Properties
Sammanfattning : The aim with this thesis has been to increase the knowledge about nonionic microemulsions and how they behave with increasing temperature. I have studied Nonionic Microemulsions made from C12E5, water and oil, with predominally hexadecane as oil, but also with octane, decane, dodecane and tetradecane as oil. LÄS MER
19. Elastic properties and structural stabilities of elements and compounds
Sammanfattning : A first principles study of the elastic and structural properties of selected elements and compounds is presented. The theoretical basis for these investigations is the density functional theory, in combination with a full potential linear muffin-tin orbital method. LÄS MER
20. Elastic Properties of Iron Alloys from First-Principles Theory
Sammanfattning : Accurate description of materials requires the most advanced atomic-scale techniques from both experimental and theoretical areas. In spite of numerous available techniques, however, the experimental study of the atomic-scale properties and phenomena even in simple solids is rather difficult. LÄS MER
