  1. 1. Wound Infection Following Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery : Risk Factors and the Experiences of Patients

    Författare :Christine Leo Swenne; Marianne Carlsson; Christina Lindholm; Jan Borowiec; Annika Ekbom Schnell; Hans Rutberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Caring sciences; coronary artery bypass graft; surgical wound infection; infection control; risk factor; blood glucose; postoperative; Saphenous vein harvesting; wound evaluation scale; mediastinitis; psychology; quality of life; Vårdvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The primary aim was to register the incidence of surgical wound infections (SWI) in sternotomy and leg incisions and potential risk factors for SWI following coronary artery by-pass graft (CAGB) procedures. Patients’ perspectives of SWI and the subsequent treatment were also considered. Risk factors were registered for 374 patients. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Multifunctional roles of plasmin in inflammation : Studies of animal models on rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, wound healing and infection

    Författare :Jinan Li; Peter Carmeliet; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Plasmin; complement; inflammation; wound healing; infection; autoimmune disease; non-autoimmune disease; rheumatoid arthritis; multiple sclerosis; tympanic membrane; otitis media; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Plasmin has been suggested to be involved in degradation of extracellular matrix (ECM) and tissue remodeling during a number of physiological and pathological processes. The aims of this thesis were to study the functional roles of plasmin during pathological inflammation in autoimmune and nonautoimmune disease models of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), multiple sclerosis (MS), wound healing and infection. 5. 5. Closure of midline abdominal incisions with small stitches : studies on wound complications and health economy

    Författare :Daniel Millbourn; Leif Israelsson; Agneta Montgomery; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Wound closure techniques; Postoperative complications; Surgical wound infection; Surgical wound dehiscence; Hernia; Costs; Cost analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Background A midline incision inflicts minimal damage to muscles, nerves and blood supply. Postoperative complications cause patients suffering and costs for society. Midline incisions should be closed with a continuous single-layer technique and a suture length (SL) to wound length (WL) ratio over 4. LÄS MER
