  1. 1. Tumour evolution and novel biomarkers in breast cancer

    Författare :Jana Biermann; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; breast cancer; gene signature; molecular biomarkers; tumour clonality; genomic instability; Swedish haemangioma cohort;

    Sammanfattning : Several gene signatures have been proposed in the past two decades to improve outcome prediction for breast cancer patients and to guide treatment decisions. Current treatment guidelines, however, primarily focus on established clinicopathological features. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Molecular progression and clonality or urinary bladder cancer

    Författare :Jari Louhelainen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this work was to investigate the clonality of multifocal bladder tumours, chromosomal deletions and model the initiation-progression of bladder tumours at a molecular level using microsatellite analysis. In a population-based study, we found correlation between stage and grade and the prevalence of loss of heterozygosity (LOH) at all observed chromosome 13 loci and stage and grade, respectively. 3. 3. Detection of immunoglobulin heavy chain gene rearrangement with PCR for MRD analysis in lymphoproliferative disorders

    Författare :Ulf Thunberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Minimal residual disease; Immunoglobulin gene rearrangement; PCR; Leukemia; Lymphoma; Myeloma; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Immunoglobulin heavy chain (IGH) gene rearrangement occurs during early B-lymphocyte differentiation, assembling the different IGH gene segments to a functional gene, which can serve as a marker for study of lineage association and detection of Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) in clonal diseases deriving from B-lymphocytes or their early differentiation stages. Use of a molecular marker for the leukemic cells could help improve treatment by monitoring therapeutic efficacy, predicting relapse, and identifying very small amounts of tumour cells contaminating autografts after purging or enrichment of stem cells. 4. 4. Detection and analysis of genetic alterations in normal skin and skin tumours

    Författare :Åsa Sivertsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :single cell; DNA sequencing; p53; mutation; UV; BCC; pyrosequencing; malignant melanoma; N-ras;

    Sammanfattning : The investigation of genetic alterations in cancer-relatedgenes is useful for research, prognostic and therapeuticpurposes. However, the genetic heterogeneity that often occursduring tumour progression can make correct analysischallenging. LÄS MER

  5. 5. T cell antigen receptor usage, phenotype and cytokine production in human diseases

    Författare :Jan Wahlström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :T cell; T cell receptor; T cell expansion; phenotype; cytokine; extrinsic allergic alveolitis; allergic asthma; multiple myeloma; Wegener s granulomatosis; sarcoidosis;

    Sammanfattning : T lymphocytes are of critical importance for initiating and controlling immune responses, as the T cell receptor (TCR) for antigen allows a highly specific antigen recognition. Determination of TCR usage and characterization of T cell subsets in different diseases helps us understand the underlying immunopathogenic mechanisms, and may also lead to the development of new therapeutic approaches.
