  1. 16. Estimation of forest parameters using 3D satellite data : stereogrammetry, radargrammetry and interferometry

    Författare :Henrik Persson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Accurate data about the forest are needed both in climate research and forest management planning. This thesis focuses on using different types of three-dimensional (3D) satellite data sources to accurately estimate forest variables, primarily above-ground biomass (AGB) and tree height (H). 2. 17. Simulation Based Methods for Target Tracking

    Författare :Rickard Karlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we study a Bayesian estimation formulation of the target tracking problem. Traditionally, linear or linearized models are used, where the uncertainty in the sensor and motion models is typically modeled by Gaussian densities. Hence, classical sub-optimal Bayesian methods based on linearized Kalman filters can be used. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Simulations of Coastal Atmospheric Dynamics and Transport Processes

    Författare :Ragothaman Sundararajan; Dimitris Melas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; coastal atmosphere; dynamics; transport; Lagrangian particle dispersion model; mesoscale model; turbulence; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Meteorology; meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : The marine atmosphere can be highly variable in space and time, and the coastal terrain plays a crucial role in influencing its properties. These, in turn, determine the atmospheric transport in the coastal zone. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Spatial Variation in Near-Ground Radiation and Low Temperature - Interactions with Forest Vegetation

    Författare :Kristina Blennow; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; light interception; hemispherical photograph; growth; forest fragmentation; fluorescence; cold-induced photoinhibition; GIS; view factor; radiative cooling; frost protection; agro-climatic mapping; forest clear-cut; local climate; Microclimate; Physical geography; geomorphology; pedology; cartography; climatology; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Low temperature has a large impact on the survival and distribution of plants. Interactive effects with high irradiance lead to cold-induced photoinhibition, which may impact on the establishment and growth of tree seedlings. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Kilometer-scale climate modeling of precipitation in the Nordic region

    Författare :Petter Lind; Erik Kjellström; Erik Kolstad; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Convection-permitting climate modeling; Precipitation; Extremes; Atmospheric convection; Nordic region; Climate change; Observations; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi;

    Sammanfattning : Future changes in precipitation, in particular extremes, are among the most impact-relevant consequences of a warming climate driven by increases in atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. Still, climate model projections of future changes in regional and local precipitation remain uncertain. LÄS MER
