Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is portraiture and its context in Sweden during the Caroline era (1654-1718). Mainly, it focuses on portraits of the political élite, including the Royal family, and on the biographies of the artists that depicted those sitters. 3. Marschen mot makten : Västra arméns revolt och väg till Stockholm 1809
Sammanfattning : In March 1809, when Sweden was yet again at war, part of its Western Army staged a revolt against Gustav IV Adolf that spelled the end of royal absolutism. The thesis shows how, in a turbulent period in European history marked by revolution and the Napoleonic wars, an army of several thousand men could successfully revolt and march from their positions in the county of Värmland clean across their own country to Stockholm, where they instigated a change of regime. Sammanfattning : This dissertation deals with the art of preaching of Haquin Spegel (1645-1714) from a political and rhetorical perspective. 5. Kungsord i elfte timmen : Språk och självbild i det gustavianska enväldets legitimitetskamp 1772–1809
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the language and image of late Swedish absolutism. The sources used are royal medals and royal speeches and ceremonies at the Diets. The images are analysed as linguistic constructions, made up by a framework of concepts articulated in words, symbols and ceremonies around the kings. LÄS MER
