  1. 6. Synchrotron radiation studies of gas phase molecules : from hydrogen to DNA sugars

    Författare :Gemma Vall-llosera; Elisabeth Rachlew; Stacey Sorensen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; KTH thesis; synchrotron radiation; gas phase; bio molecules; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylfysik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis summarises experimental results on the molecular spectroscopy of gas phase molecules excited by synchrotron radiation in the VUV and soft X-ray regions. We have used three different detection techniques, photon induced fluorescence spectroscopy, photoionisation mass spectroscopy and near edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy to study molecular deuterium, hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, methanol, pyridine, pyridazine, pyrimidine, pyrazine, s-triazine, and 2-deoxy-D-ribose, the last one also known as the DNA sugar. 2. 7. Comprehensive Gamma-Ray Spectroscopy of 62Zn and Studies of Nilsson Parameters in the Mass A = 60 Region

    Författare :Jnaneswari Gellanki; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High-spin gamma-ray spectroscopy; superdeformation; 62Zn; Cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky and effective alignments; Fysicumarkivet A:2013:Gellanki;

    Sammanfattning : Comprehensive experimental knowledge of the 62Zn nucleus has been obtained from the combined statistics of four different experiments. The Gammasphere Ge-detector array in conjunction with the 4pi charged-particle detector array Microball was used to detect the gamma-rays in coincidence with evaporated light charged particles. 3. 8. Collective Excitations in Transitional Nuclei Studied by Means of gamma-ray Spectroscopy and Lifetime Measurements

    Författare :Hongjie Li; Bo Cederwall; Radomira Lozeva; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Despite that it is more than 100 years since the atomic nucleus was first dis- covered by Ernest Rutherford and coworkers, many of its features still elude our understanding. The fact that the fundamental interactions between the nuclear constituents; nucleons, and ultimately quarks, are not yet known in detail, and the complexity of the nuclear many-body system compound the great challenges facing theoretical interpretations of experimental data. 4. 9. Interpretation of gamma-ray burst X-ray and optical afterglow emission : From the central engine to the circumburst interaction

    Författare :Liang Li; Felix Ryde; Fawad Hassan; Kim Page; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gamma-ray bursts; central engine; afterglow; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Gamma-ray bursts are the largest electromagnetic explosions known to happen in the Universe and are associated with the collapse of stellar progenitors into blackholes. After an energetic prompt emission phase, lasting typically less than a minute and emitted in the gamma-rays, a long-lived afterglow phase starts. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Precision molecular spectroscopy in the near- and mid-infrared using frequency comb-based Fourier transform spectrometers

    Författare :Adrian Hjältén; Aleksandra Foltynowicz; Ove Axner; Adam Fleisher; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; optical frequency comb; molecular spectroscopy; Fourier transform spectrometer; high resolution; mid-infrared; line list; double-resonance spectroscopy; difference frequency generation; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Absorption spectroscopy is a powerful scientific tool for non-invasive and remote sensing applications ranging from atmospheric monitoring to astrophysics. In spectroscopic detection schemes it is necessary to have spectral models for any molecular species to be detected or quantified. LÄS MER
