21. Integrating bioinformatics and physiology to describe genetic effects in complex polygenic diseases
Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) results from interaction between genetic and environmental factors. The worldwide prevalence of T2DM is increasing rapidly due to reduction in physical activity, increase in dietary intake, and the aging of the population. LÄS MER
22. Regulation of the Epstein-Barr virus C promoter by the OriP-EBNA1 complex
Sammanfattning : Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is an exclusively human, lymphotropic herpes virus that infects more than 90% of the population worldwide. Primary infection usually occurs during the early years of life and does not result in any recognized disease. LÄS MER
23. DNA precursor asymmetries, Mismatch Repair and their effect on mutation specificity
Sammanfattning : In order to build any structure, a good supply of materials, accurate workers and quality control are needed. This is even the case when constructing DNA, the so-called “Code of Life.” For a species to continue to exist, this DNA code must be copied with incredibly high accuracy when each and every cell replicates. 24. Functional and structural properties of eukaryotic DNA polymerase epsilon
Sammanfattning : In eukaryotes there are three DNA polymerases which are essential for the replication of chromosomal DNA: DNA polymerase alpha (Pol alpha), DNA polymerase delta (Pol delta) and DNA polymerase epsilon (Pol epsilon). In vitro studies of viral DNA replication showed that Pol alpha and Pol delta are sufficient for DNA replication on both leading and lagging DNA strands, thus leaving the function of Pol epsilon unknown. 25. Statistical modeling and design in forestry : The case of single tree models
Sammanfattning : Forest quantification methods have evolved from a simple graphical approach to complex regression models with stochastic structural components. Currently, mixed effects models methodology is receiving attention in the forestry literature. LÄS MER
