21. Small Sanitation Systems – Treatment Efficiency, Sustainability and Implementation
Sammanfattning : Current socio-technical wastewater system paradigms are being challenged by emerging global issues such as climate change, environmental degradation and scarcity of resources. Thus, exploration of innovative new urban water management solutions is required that enable closure of resource loops. LÄS MER
22. Removal of Pharmaceuticals in Biofilm and Activated Sludge Systems
Sammanfattning : Abstract The present work investigates i) the occurrence and removal of pharmaceuticals at Swedish WWTPs, and ii) potential causes for differences in the removal efficiency of pharmaceuticals at wastewater treatment plants. Particular attention is directed at the biological treatment and the pharmaceutical removal capacity per unit biomass of activated sludges and carrier biofilms of different origins. LÄS MER
23. Developing and optimizing processes for biological nitrogen removal from tannery wastewaters in Ethiopia
Sammanfattning : In Ethiopia industrial effluents containing high contents of organic matter, nitrogen and heavy metals are discharged into inland surface waters with little or no pre-treatment. Significant pollution concerns related to these effluents include dissolved oxygen depletion, toxicity and eutrophication of the receiving waters. LÄS MER
24. Assessment of a partial nitritation/Anammox system for nitrogen removal
Sammanfattning : This thesis evaluates the performance of a deammonification system designed as a two-step tech-nology consisting of an initial partial nitritation followed by an Anammox process. Operation of a technical-scale pilot plant at the Himmerfjärden Wastewater Treatment Plant (Grödinge, Swe-den) has been assessed. LÄS MER
25. Interaction analysis and control of bioreactors for nitrogen removal
Sammanfattning : Efficient control of wastewater treatment processes are of great importance. The requirements on the treated water (effluent standards) have to be met at a feasible cost. This motivates the use of advanced control strategies. LÄS MER
