1. Covariate selection and propensity score specification in causal inference
Sammanfattning : This thesis makes contributions to the statistical research field of causal inference in observational studies. The results obtained are directly applicable in many scientific fields where effects of treatments are investigated and yet controlled experiments are difficult or impossible to implement. LÄS MER
2. Some Aspects of Propensity Score-based Estimators for Causal Inference
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers that are related to commonly used propensity score-based estimators for average causal effects. The first paper starts with the observation that researchers often have access to data containing lots of covariates that are correlated. LÄS MER
3. Fighting for Aid : Foreign Funding and Civil Conflict Intensity

The study introduces two concepts: funding concentration and barriers to exploiting aid. LÄS MER
4. Real-Time Monitoring of Healthcare Interventions in Routine Care : Effectiveness and Safety of Newly Introduced Medicines
Sammanfattning : Before market authorization of new medicines, their efficacy and safety are evaluated using randomized controlled trials. While there is no doubt about the scientific value of randomized trials, they are usually conducted in selected populations with questionable generalizability to routine care. LÄS MER
