2. Fighting for Aid : Foreign Funding and Civil Conflict Intensity
Sammanfattning : This dissertation focuses on the sub-national impact of foreign aid on civil conflicts by asking the question: How does foreign aid committed to contested areas affect the intensity of violence in those areas? The main theoretical contribution is to focus on how aid influences warring parties’ decisions to engage in contests over territorial control and how that in turn influences violence intensity. The study introduces two concepts: funding concentration and barriers to exploiting aid. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the need for urban landscapes that provide resilient contributions to inhabitants’ well-being while also limiting impacts on the Earth system. It aims to (1) advance a nuanced understanding of how urban environments relate to urban dwellers’ well-being, and (2) formulate guidelines for planning that supports urban dwellers’ well-being and align with global sustainability. Sammanfattning : This thesis is a summary of six previously published or submitted articles on (1) the significance of the geographic distribution of Recent benthic foraminifera in the Baltic Sea and the central North Atlantic, and (2) the significance of the stratigraphic distribution of Pliocene benthic foraminifera from the Blake Plateau, western North Atlantic.Recent benthic foraminifera in the Baltic Sea have a geographic distribution strongly correlated to the highly variable hydrographical conditions.
