I have used the career concept in order to investigate professional change because it provides a conceptual lens to illuminate stability and change and it captures both external and internal professional processes.     Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to contribute knowledge about the wig-makers' artistic and social status at The Royal Theatre between 1773 and 1923. The period, during which the development from a guild system to an industrialized society took place in Sweden, was mainly chosen because documents in the archives revealed that the wig-makers' workshop at the theatre was carried on by contractors.
