1. Nonlinear Propagation of Optical Pulses and Beams
Sammanfattning : The propagation of optical beams and pulses under the influence of nonlinear effects is characterized by a rich variety of phenomena and many potentially important applications. We analyse two main topics in this context: nonlinear beam propagation, and nonlinear pulse propagation in optical fibers. LÄS MER
2. Propagation of some coherent and partially coherent laser beams
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we investigate the propagation of some coherent and partially coherent laser beams, including a dark hollow beam (DHB), an elliptical Gaussian beam (EGB), a flat-topped beam and a twisted anisotropic Gaussian Schell-model (TAGSM) beam, through a paraxial optical system or a turbulent atmosphere. Several theoretical models are proposed to describe a DHB of circular or non-circular symmetry. LÄS MER
3. Nonlinear Pulse Propagation in Optical Fibres
Sammanfattning : Pulse propagation in optical fibre communication systems is affected by the fibre nonlinearity even at relatively low power levels (.... LÄS MER
4. Partially Coherent Laser Radiation - Modeling and Application to Optical Microlithography
Sammanfattning : This work deals with a type of light that has properties somewhere between blackbody radiation and conventional laser light; such light is referred to as partially coherent. One example is the radiation from the pulsed excimer laser, which is used in the manufacturing of most of the worlds integrated circuits. LÄS MER
5. Microscopic Modeling of Exciton Propagation and Dissociation in Two-Dimensional Materials
Sammanfattning : Atomically thin materials have been in the spotlight of research during the last decade due to their exceptional properties, providing a platform for the study of novel physical phenomena. In particular, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have emerged as promising atomically thin materials for future optoelectronic applications owing to their strong light-matter interaction and their high tunability.
