  1. 21. Charting biodiversity : Scuttle flies and other poorly known insects in Sweden

    Författare :Sibylle Häggqvist; Fredrik Ronquist; Jeff Skevinton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systematic Zoology; zoologisk systematik och evolutionsforskning;

    Sammanfattning : Biodiversity has fascinated people in all times. We as a species are part of the global ecosystem and our survival depends on many other species around us. Charting biodiversity, however, has proven more difficult than one could imagine. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Birds and butterflies at the forest-farmland interface

    Författare :Dafne Ram; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Conservation; Monitoring; Forestry; Grassland butterflies; Farmland birds;

    Sammanfattning : Land-use change is one of the greatest threats to biodiversity. Through intensification of land-use, the agricultural landscape has become more homogenous and a result, many species associated with traditional farmland or other semi-natural open habitats have declined. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Quantifying Risk in Epidemiological and Ecological Contexts

    Författare :Stefan Sellman; Uno Wennergren; Bo Ebenman; Meggan Craft; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The rates of globalization and growth of the human population puts ever increasing pressure on the agricultural sector to intensify and grow more complex, and with this intensification comes an increased risk of outbreaks of infectious livestock diseases. At the same time, and for the same reasons, the detrimental effect that humans have on other species with which we share the environment has never been more apparent, as the current rates of species loss from ecological communities rival those of ancient mass extinction events. 4. 24. Food Web Ecology -- individual life-histories and ecological processes shape complex communities

    Författare :Martin Hartvig; Evolutionär ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; food web; community ecology; community assembly; size-structure; life-history omnivory; ontogeny; trophic interactions; trait based model; topology; emergent organisation; size-spectrum;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis sets out a food web framework for size-structured populations. The framework enables an ecological approach to food web modelling as the individual life-history from birth, through maturation, and ultimately death is explicitly resolved with the use of bioenergetics based on individual body size.
