  1. 1. Pedagogic practice between tradition and renewal : A study of the new mathematics curriculum in Mozambique

    Författare :Balbina Mutemba; Candia Morgan; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Mathematics Education; Matematik och lärande;

    Sammanfattning : The new school mathematics curriculum in Mozambique, introduced in 2008, is partly competency-based and it advocates a more student-centred pedagogy. The most salient innovative features are the incorporation of mathematical competencies related to the development of students’ reasoning skills, including argumentation, justification and analytical thinking, and the use of heuristic or inductive methods that promote meaningful students’ participation. 2. 2. Kognitiva och metakognitiva perspektiv på läsförståelse inom matematik

    Författare :Magnus Österholm; Björn Textorius; Christer Bergsten; Carl Winsløw; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; mathematical texts; metacognition; reading comprehension; self-regulation; university; upper secondary level; beliefs; cognition; gymnasium; kognition; läsförståelse; matematiska texter; metakognition; självreglering; universitet; uppfattningar; Subject didactics; Ämnesdidaktik;

    Sammanfattning : Det verkar finnas en allmän uppfattning om att matematiska texter är så speciella att man måste få lära sig en särskild typ av läsförmåga för att förstå sådana texter. Denna uppfattning verkar dock inte vara baserad på forskningsresultat eftersom det visar sig inte finnas mycket forskning genomförd som behandlar läsförståelse inom matematik. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Supporting mathematical reasoning through reading and writing in mathematics : making the implicit explicit

    Författare :Cecilia Segerby; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :Educational Design Research; Grade 4; Mathematic reasoning; Reading; Reciprocal Teaching Model; Systemic Functional Linguistic; Writing;

    Sammanfattning : In school mathematics, mathematical reasoning with an emphasis on language is considered an important competence. A student’s competence to reason in mathematics requires specific reading and writing skills, but suitable activities to support these skills are difficult to find. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Between symbols and words : structural connections in mathematics texts and their effect on reading

    Författare :Ulrika Wikström Hultdin; Ewa Bergqvist; Mathias Norqvist; Anselm Strohmaier; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; text organization; reading mathematics; multimodality; semiotic resources; text design; textbooks; diciplinary literacy; inter-semiotic connections; sign systems; matematikläroböcker; teckensystem; semiotiska resurser; multimodalitet; intersemiotiska kopplingar; matematikdidaktik; didactics of mathematics;

    Sammanfattning : While students progress through their school years, they are expected to develop reading skills in all academic subjects, including mathematics. Mathematics texts, being multisemiotic, require readers to make meaning not only from written language but also from mathematical symbols and visualizations. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The concept concept in mathematics education : A concept analysis

    Författare :Lotta Wedman; Högskolan Dalarna; []

    Sammanfattning : The notion concept is used in different ways within the field of mathematics education. The aim of this study is to carry out a concept analysis of the notion concept, within some frequently used frameworks describing conceptual understanding. LÄS MER
