21. Living biohybrid systems via in vivo polymerization of thiophene oligomers
Sammanfattning : Life is the result of a multitude of electrical signals which drives our nervous system but also accomplishes a cascade of electrochemical reactions. In the 18th century, Lucia Galeazzi and Luigi Galvani got the idea to stimulate frog legs with electrodes. LÄS MER
22. Aspects of aqueous humor dynamics : Studies in vivo and in vitro
Sammanfattning : The purpose of the present investigation was to study the effects of PGF2α-l-isopropylester, some neuropeptides, and pharmacological agents on aqueous humor dynamics and intraocular pressure (IOP) in vivo and on adenylate cyclase activity in the nonpigmented ciliary epithelium (NPE) in vitro.Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) caused a dose-dependent increase in cAMP formation, indicating that the NPE contains receptors for PACAP and VIP coupled to adenylate cyclase activation. 23. Regulation of Renal Hyaluronan in Water Handling : Studies in vivo and in vitro
Sammanfattning : Hyaluronan (HA) is a negatively charged extracellular matrix (ECM) component with water-attracting properties. It is the dominating ECM component in the renal medullary interstitium, where the amount changes in relation to hydration status: it increases during hydration and decreases during dehydration. 24. β-N-methylamino-L-alanine (BMAA)-induced neurotoxicity : Studies in vitro and in vivo
Sammanfattning : β-N-methylamino-L-alanine (BMAA) is a neurotoxic non-proteinogenic amino acid produced naturally by cyanobacteria, diatoms and dinoflagellates and it has been detected in samples from fresh and marine water from all over the world. It can bioaccumulate in fish and shellfish, and has a potential to biomagnify in a terrestrial food chain. LÄS MER
