  1. 1. Aerosols of Isocyanates, Amines and Anhydrides : Sampling and Analysis

    Författare :Jakob Dahlin; Gunnar Skarping; Robert P. Streicher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; isocyanate; amine; aminoisocyanate; organic acid anhydride; denuder; impactor; impinger; air sampling; LC-MS; LC-CLND; di-n-butylamine; DBA; thermal degradation; aerosol; particles; TDI; MDI; HDI; ICA; MIC; IPDI; exposure; occupational health; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents methods for air sampling and determination of isocyanates, amines, aminoisocyanates and anhydrides. These organic compounds are generated during thermal degradation of polymers such as polyurethane (PUR) or epoxy.Isocyanates, amines and anhydrides are airway irritants known to cause occupational asthma. 2. 2. Measurement and Control of Metal Vapours during Fluidized Bed Combustion of Biomass Fuels

    Författare :Khanh-Quang Tran; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SI detector; metal capture; sorbent; Aalkali capture; TQ impactor; GQ probe;

    Sammanfattning : Increased combustion of biomass fuels for heat and power production has created a need to recycle nutrient elements in biomass ash to soils to make the biomass consumption sustainable. It is, however, difficult to recycle the total amount of biomass ash produced due to the high concentrations of heavy metals and their readily soluble forms in some ash fractions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Isocyanates - methodology for gas and particle generation, sampling and detection

    Författare :Daniel Gylestam; Marianne Dalene; Gunnar Skarping; Daniel Karlsson; Dhimiter Bello; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Isocyanate; PUR; Dry sampler; PTR-MS; Transfer line; PPE; Environmental Chamber; Respirable Particles; Denuder Impactor; Aerosol; Particles; Impinger; air sampling; LC-MS; di-n-butylamine; DBA; ICA; MIC; HDI; TDI; IPDI; MDI; Occupational Exposure; Exposure; Occupational Health; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Isocyanates are mainly used in the industry for the production of polyurethane (PUR) plastics. Workers are at risk of being exposed during the manufacturing of PUR. During thermal degradation of PUR, isocyanates are released and workers involved in hot work such as fire-fighting, welding etc. may also be exposed. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Measuring occupational dust exposure with a passive sampler

    Författare :Mariam Shirdel; Ingvar Bergdahl; Britt Andersson; Håkan Wingfors; Christer Johansson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dust particles; mineral; PM10; PM2.5; respirable fraction; UNC passive aerosol sampler; working environment;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives: In a working environment it is important to measure dust exposure to evaluate possible health issues. Passive sampling could be an alternative to active sampling with pumps when measuring occupational dust exposure. One passive sampler is the University of North Carolina passive aerosol sampler (UNC sampler). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Fine and Ultrafine Particles from Combustion Sources - Investigations with In-situ Techniques

    Författare :Joakim Pagels; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pollution control; Environmental technology; Teknik; Technological sciences; Indoor Air; In-Situ Measurement; Biomass Combustion; Morphology; Hygroscopic Growth; Volatility; TDMA; APS; ELPI; Respiratory Deposition; Fine Particles; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; Ultrafine Particles;

    Sammanfattning : Fine airborne particles are associated with adverse health effects in the human population. The aim of this research was to develop and evaluate methods for in-situ characterisation of fine and ultrafine particles and to determine their deposition in the human airways. LÄS MER
