1. Visualizing Interacting Biomolecules In Situ
Sammanfattning : Intra- and intercellular information is communicated by posttranslational modifications (PTMs) and protein-protein interactions, transducing information over cell membranes and to the nucleus. A cells capability to respond to stimuli by several highly complex and dynamic signaling networks provides the basis for rapid responses and is fundamental for the cellular collaborations required in a multicellular organism. 2. Analysis of Arctic ice cloud properties using in-situ and remote sensing measurements
Sammanfattning : Cirrus clouds play an important role in the radiation balance of the atmosphere as theycan have a warming and cooling effect. The resulting net radiation effect depends ontheir micro- and macrophysical properties such as particle size, shape, and numberconcentration. LÄS MER
3. Improving accuracy of in situ gamma-ray spectrometry
Sammanfattning : Gamma-ray spectrometry measurements performed on site, or “in situ”, is a widely used and powerful method that can be employed both to identify and quantify ground deposited radionuclides. The purpose of this thesis is to improve the calibration of high purity germanium (HPGe) detectors for in situ measurements, and calculate the combined uncertainty and potential systematic effects. 4. Ionic transport of α-alumina below 1000°C : an in-situ impedance spectrosocpy study
Sammanfattning : Ionic conductivity of metal oxides is critical for the function of a broad range of different components, such as electrolytes in solid oxide fuel cells and alloys designed for high temperature applications. In both cases the ionic conductivity can be studied by in situ impedance spectroscopy, which is also able to reveal information on the dielectric properties of the metal oxides, and in some cases the influence of their microstructure. 5. In-situ Studies of Spontaneous Potential Oscillations during Electrochemical Deposition of Copper and Cuprous Oxide
Sammanfattning : Self-oscillating behaviour in alkaline Cu(II)-lactate and -tartrate systems has been investigated by in-situ pH and confocal Raman spectroscopy measurements. Formation of Cu(II)-lactate and -tartrate complexes is a key factor underlying the self-oscillations. LÄS MER
