1. Different Voices - Different Stories : Communication, identity and meaning among people with acquired brain damage
Sammanfattning : The main purpose of the dissertation is to understand meaning-making practices used by people suffering from acquired brain damage with severe physical and communicative disabilities, in order to create and sustain their identity and personhood in relation to other people. The study emanates from the idea that identity and personhood, also in relation to disability, are created/sustained in ongoing interaction between people in everyday situations, and that the ability to narrate is central to such a creation of identity. Sammanfattning : The starting point in this thesis is stroke inflicted individuals’ stories about their experience of stroke, relations in everyday life, and their relations and attempts to return to paid work with the objective of gaining a further understanding of what happens when inflicted by illness and/or disability in working age. Sammanfattning : The overarching aim of this thesis is to illuminate the experience of illness and the meaning of fear of medical care through children’s narratives. A purposive sample of 22 children and youths, aged from 2 to 18 years, narrated through play and conversation their experiences of illness and of their fear of contact with medical care. LÄS MER
4. Life-story perspective on caring within cultural contexts : experiences of severe illness and of caring
Sammanfattning : People are afflicted by severe illnesses and adversities in life and they practice care privately and professionally in different cultural contexts from the view of their own life-story perspective. Five studies with a qualitative approach were linked together with the overall aim of disclosing the experience of severe illness and caring with a life-story perspective in different cultural contexts.
