  1. 1. Different Voices - Different Stories : Communication, identity and meaning among people with acquired brain damage

    Författare :Eleonor Antelius; Lars-Christer Hydén; Marja-Liisa Honkasalo; Andrew Sparkes; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Acquired brain damage; body; communication; dependence; disability; embodiment; enactment; ethnography; identity; language use; meaning-making practices; narratives; normality; personhood; power relations; self-determination; social interaction; stories; storytelling; story-making; videoethnography; voice; Beroende; berättande; berättelser; etnografi; funktionshinder; förkroppsligande; förvärvad hjärnskada; identitet; kommunikation; kropp; maktrelationer; meningsskapande praktiker; narrativer; normalitet; personskap; röst; självbestämmande; social interaktion; språkanvändning; videoetnografi; Disability research; Handikappsforskning;

    Sammanfattning : The main purpose of the dissertation is to understand meaning-making practices used by people suffering from acquired brain damage with severe physical and communicative disabilities, in order to create and sustain their identity and personhood in relation to other people. The study emanates from the idea that identity and personhood, also in relation to disability, are created/sustained in ongoing interaction between people in everyday situations, and that the ability to narrate is central to such a creation of identity. 2. 2. Nycklar till Kommunikation : Kommunikation mellan vuxna personer med grav förvärvad hjärnskada och personernas närstående, anhöriga och personal

    Författare :Pia Käcker; Jerker Holmbäck; Anders Möller; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Communication; social interaction; communicative impairment; communicative ability; acquired severe brain damage; global aphasia; language impairment; friends and family; caregivers; kommunikation; social interaktion; kommunikationsstörning; kommunikativ kompetens; förvärvad grav hjärnskada; global afasi; språkstörning; anhöriga; personal; Disability research; Handikappsforskning;

    Sammanfattning : Studien fokuserar kommunikation mellan vuxna personer med grav förvärvad hjärnskada och deras närstående. Syftet är att med utgångspunkt från de närståendes berättelser beskriva hur kommunikationen manifesteras, samt att ge en teoretisk beskrivning av vilka faktorer som understödjer respektive motverkar kommunikationen. 3. 3. The Non-Invasive Brain Biopsy : Implementation and Application of Quantitative Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy on Healthy and Diseased Human Brain

    Författare :Anders Tisell; Peter Lundberg; Marcel Warntjes; Anne-Marie Landtblom; Örjan Smedby; Jan Weis; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: In this thesis, one of the major objectives was to implement a method for (absolute) quantitative magnetic resonance spectroscopy (qMRS) of the human brain, intended for clinical use. The implemented method was based on standard spatially selective MRS sequences. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Diffusion MRI with generalised gradient waveforms : methods, models, and neuroimaging applications

    Författare :Deneb Boito; Evren Özarslan; Magnus Herberthson; Anders Eklund; Ida Blystad; Frederik Laun; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diffusion; Diffusion MRI; Microstructure; Brain; White matter; Microscopic anisotropy; Constrained optimisation;

    Sammanfattning : The incessant, random motion of water molecules within biological tissues reveals unique information about the tissues’ structural and functional characteristics. Diffusion magnetic resonance imaging is sensitive to this random motion, and since the mid-1990s it has been extensively employed for studying the human brain. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On biomarkers in traumatic brain injury

    Författare :Eric Thelin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a common cause of death and disability. Unfortunately, TBI patients will be affected by secondary insults, such as hypoxia and increased intracranial pressure, which may lead to secondary brain injuries. LÄS MER
