  1. 11. On the atmospheric transport pathways of heat into the Arctic in winter and spring

    Författare :Sonja Murto; Rodrigo Caballero; Gunilla Svensson; Dörthe Handorf; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic climate; Blocking; Warm-air intrusions; Surface energy budget; Melt onset; MOSAiC; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi;

    Sammanfattning : The atmospheric meridional energy transport is an important component in the global climate system, as it transports moisture and heat from the midlatitudes into the Arctic, balancing the regional energy loss to space. Narrow and intense injections of warm and moist air, so-called warm-air intrusions, have a large local imprint on the surface through various processes acting on different scales, such as cloud formation, turbulent fluxes and atmospheric large-scale circulation. 2. 12. Thermophysical Properties of Aqueous Solutions Used as Secondary Working Fluids

    Författare :Åke Melinder; Björn Palm; Antero Aittomäki; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Secondary working fluids; secondary refrigerants; indirect systems; aqueous solutions; ice slurry; thermophysical properties; freezing point; density; viscosity; specific heat; thermal conductivity; Mechanical and thermal engineering; Mekanisk och termisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Secondary working fluids (secondary refrigerants, heat transfer fluids, antifreezes, brines) have long been used in various indirect re-frigeration and heat pump systems. Aqueous solutions (water solu-tions) have long been used as single phase (liquid only) secondary working fluids for cooling in supermarkets, ice rinks, heat recovery systems, heat pumps and other applications. 3. 13. On the Arctic Seasonal Cycle

    Författare :Jonas Mortin; Gunilla Svensson; Rune G. Graversen; Wolfgang Dierking; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic climate; Seasonal melt-freeze transitions; Arctic sea ice and snow; Active microwave measurements; Climate model evaluation; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : The seasonal cycle of snow and sea ice is a fundamental feature of the Arctic climate system. In the Northern Hemisphere, about 55 million km2 of sea ice and snow undergo complete melt and freeze processes every year. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Greenhouse Gas Dynamics in Ice-covered Lakes Across Spatial and Temporal Scales

    Författare :Blaize Amber Denfeld; Gesa Weyhenmeyer; Kimberly Wickland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :carbon cycle; climate change; cryosphere; carbon dioxide; methane; lakes; winter limnology; methane oxidation; nutrients; catchment; Limnologi; Limnology;

    Sammanfattning : Lakes play a major role in the global carbon (C) cycle, despite making up a small area of earth’s surface. Lakes receive, transport and process sizable amounts of C, emitting a substantial amount of the greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4), into the atmosphere. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Glacier-Ocean Interactions in the Arctic : Contemporary calving and frontal melt from field observations, remote sensing, and numerical modelling

    Författare :Felicity Alice Holmes; Nina Kirchner; Benedict T. I. Reinardy; Riko Noormets; Jason Briner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Glacier-ocean interactions; Arctic; Calving; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Globally, glaciers are losing mass as a result of the changing climate, with this mass loss having a considerable societal impact through rising sea levels. Glaciers which terminate in the oceans are particularly vulnerable to changing external conditions as a result of high sensitivity at their marine margins. LÄS MER
