  1. 1. Mesentric hemodynamics and effects of angiotensin II during circulatory stress

    Författare :Mats Laesser; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Renin-angiontensin system; angiotensin II; intestines; hemodynamics; perfusion; hemorrhage; hypovolemia; endotoxemia;

    Sammanfattning : Mesenteric hypoperfusion and ischemia is considered to be deleterious to the intestinal mucosal barrier function and it is suggested that the renin-angiotensin system plays a pivotal role in the regulation of mesenteric perfusion.The present thesis examines the effects of the specific AT1 receptor blocker candesartan on mesenteric hemodynamics during acute hypovolemia and endotoxinemia.     Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; restoration of spontaneous circulation; ROSC; cardiopulmonary resuscitation; CPR; cardiac arrest; methylene blue; MB; S-PBN; mild therapeutic hypothermia; MTH; targeted temperature management; TTM; endothelin; ET-1; ECE-1; ETAR; ETBR; nitric oxide; NO; nitric oxide synthase; NOS; eNOS; iNOS; nNOS; porcine; amiodarone; hypovolemia; milrinone; vasopressin; esmolol; epinephrine; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : It is a major clinical problem that survival rates after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest have not markedly improved during the last decades, despite extensive research and the introduction of new interventions. However, recent studies have demonstrated promising treatments such as targeted temperature management (TTM) and methylene blue (MB). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Volume kinetics of glucose solutions given by intravenous infusion

    Författare :Fredrik Sjöstrand; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Volume kinetics; osmosis; dehydration; rehydration; glucose solutions; glucose; hypovolemia; hypoglycemia; fluids; intravenous fluid therapy; fluid shifts; plasma volume; dilution; plasma dilution; intracellular hydration; central volume.;

    Sammanfattning : Fluid therapy is often cumbersome to plan since the distribution and the elimination of the administered solution are difficult to analyze in the clinical setting. The knowledge of the adequate rate and dose for each individual patient and under various physiological conditions would be very attractive to obtain in order to avoid fluid overload and hyperglycemia. 5. 5. Extreme hemodilution: Effects of inhalation anesthetics, hypoxia, and blood loss. An Experimental study in pigs

    Författare :Henning Schou; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anaesthesiology; oxygen saturation.; blood volume; coronary circulation; blood lactate; oxygen uptake; Anemia; oxygen delivery; intensive care; Anestesiologi; intensivvård;

    Sammanfattning : Hemodilution reduces the need for blood transfusion and hereby the risk for transmission of infectious agents. The present study investigated effects on systemic and myocardial circulation and oxygenation, and blood lactate concentrations; induced by nitrous oxide, isoflurane, hypoxia, and uncompensated blood loss, in pigs hemodiluted to a hematocrit of 11%.
