  1. 11. Localization of lipoprotein lipase in mouse pancreas, kidney and placenta : impact of metabolic disturbances on cellular distribution and activity regulation

    Författare :Rakel Nyrén; Gunilla Olivecrona; Paolo Parini; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lipoprotein lipase; pancreas; kidney; placenta; angiopoietin-like protein 4; high-fat diet; obesity; mice; PET CT; nutritional status; triglyceride; GPIHBP1; medicinsk och fysiologisk kemi; Medical and Physiological Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is the key enzyme for metabolism of triglycerides in plasma lipoproteins. In recent years many new facts about the enzyme and its regulation have been uncovered. The endothelial membrane protein GPIHBP1 translocates LPL through endothelial cells and holds the enzyme in place at the luminal side of the capillary endothelium. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Nutritional Limitations of a Green Protein Shift with Focus on Iron

    Författare :Cecilia Mayer Labba; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; phytate; non-heme iron absorption; antinutrients; protein shift; protein extract; meat substitutes; plant-based; fava bean; zinc bioavailability; iron bioavailability; sustainable nutrition;

    Sammanfattning : A dietary shift into plant-based diets (PBD) to reduce the climate footprint is advocated. Effects on nutrition and health from a modern PBD, composed of replacement products based on protein extracts are however currently unknown. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Nutrition in the second year of life. Effects of different milk compositions on dietary intakes, growth and metabolism

    Författare :Johan Svahn; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; protein intake; nitrogen; iron fortification; iron intake; growth; fatty acids; fat metabolism; fat intake; energy intake; dietary intake; blood lipids; cow´s milk; cholesterol; Amino acids; children; protein metabolism.; Pediatrics; Pediatri;

    Sammanfattning : In the diet for young children, whole cow´s milk is the major contributor of calories, protein and saturated fat, but it supplies little iron and polyunsaturated fat. Although several recommendations exist for the composition of formula, recommendations for the composition of milk for young children are lacking. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Low Protein Diets and Their Effects on Brown Adipose Tissue

    Författare :Erik Lindsund; Jan Nedergaard; Eva Blomstrand; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Obesity; Protein diets; Dietary protein; Brown adipose tissue; Brown fat; BAT; UCP10; Uncoupeling protein 1; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience; fysiologi; Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity is a rising health issue and has been linked with a relative decrease of dietary protein, which promotes higher food intake. Brown adipose tissue is a heat-producing, energy-wasting organ that has been shown to be enhanced by a low protein diet. However, the mechanism of how this occurs is largely unknown. LÄS MER

  5. 15. The effect of protein intake and physical exercise on energy turnover and substrate utilisation at energy balance in man

    Författare :Anders H. Forslund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Body composition; carbohydrate; energy turnover; fat; protein; stable isotopes; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Nutrition; näringslära;

    Sammanfattning : The principal goal of the thesis has been to evaluate the effect of protein intake and physical exercise on energy turnover and substrate utilisation. Body composition assessment is of importance as an indicator of the energy balance. Therefore, in the first study the aim was to develop new models to estimate body composition more accurately.
