  1. 1. Magma plumbing architecture in Indonesia and the North Atlantic Igneous Province

    Författare :Börje Dahrén; Valentin R Troll; Abigail K. Barker; Steffi Burchardt; Ben Ellis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magma plumbing; geothermobarometry; plagioclase; clinopyroxene; magma-crust interaction; hazard mitigation; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Earth Science with specialization in Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Sammanfattning : Magma plumbing systems represent the physical framework of magma transport and storage from the source region in the mantle, through the crust, until reaching the surface in a volcanic eruption. Characterising the different aspects of magma plumbing, in particular the distribution of magma storage zones throughout the crust, is of key importance to better understand the behaviour of individual volcanoes. 2. 2. Deep subduction of the Seve Nappe Complex in the Scandinavian Caledonides

    Författare :Iwona Klonowska; Jarosław Majka; Peter Lazor; Marian Janák; Bjarne Almqvist; Jane Gilotti; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; geothermobarometry; thermodynamic modelling; Raman spectroscopy; diamond; ultrahigh-pressure metamorphism; eclogite; peridotite; gneiss;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis seeks to improve our understanding of the processes involved in continental collision zones, with a particular focus on subduction-exhumation. The main objective of this work has been to define the tectonometamorphic evolution of the deeply subducted Seve Nappe Complex (SNC) in the Scandinavian Caledonides. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The metamorphic history of Naxos (central Cyclades, Greece) : Deciphering the Oligocene and Miocene exhumation events

    Författare :Alexandre Peillod; Uwe Ring; Alasdair Skelton; Arne Willner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cycladic Blueschist Unit; exhumation; fluid flow; geothermobarometry; Hellenide orogen; Rb-Sr dating; subduction-zone metamorphism; Heat flow; Lower crust; extensional domain; Metamorphic core complex; Geology; geologi;

    Sammanfattning : High pressure, low temperature (HP-LT) rocks observed at the surface of the Earth are evidence ofpast subduction zones. Understanding the tectonics processes that control the exhumation of HP-LT metamorphic rocks in these subduction zones requires full comprehension of the pressure-temperature-time (P–T–t) cycle that the rocks experienced. 4. 4. Pan-African and Red Sea tectonics of eastern Eritrea

    Författare :Woldai Ghebreab; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Pan-African tectonic grain; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis proposes that the Pan-African tectonic grain in eastem Eritrea influenced theCenozoic opening of the Red Sea. Evidence is based on studies of the structures and fabrics of various phases associated with both the Pan-African orogeny and subsequent Red Sea extension. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pressure, temperature and time constraints on tectonic models for southwestern Sweden

    Författare :Eric Austin Hegardt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sveconorwegian; Gothian; Hallandian; U‐Pb zircon ion probe dating; Sm-Nd garnet dating; thermobarometry; continental subduction; Eastern Segment; Median Segment; Western Segment;

    Sammanfattning : In this work, a number of key localities have been investigated in detail in order to provide precise constraints on models for the tectonic evolution of southern Sweden. The new data presented in this thesis show that there are large differences in terms of pre-Sveconorwegian tectonic evolution between the Eastern and Median-Western Segments situated on either side of the Mylonite Zone, a major shear zone as well as a structural and lithological boundary.
