  1. 6. Gastrointestinal motility and the role of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)

    Författare :Oskar Hammar; Internmedicin - epidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gonadotropin releasing hormone; intestinal motility; luteinizing hormone; Sjögrens syndrome; in vitro fertilization;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the relation between gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and gastrointestinal symptoms and dysmotility. In primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS), a patient group with high levels of GnRH antibodies, associations between objective signs and symptoms of autonomic dysfunction (AD), impaired gastric emptying (IGE), and inflammatory and serological features were studied. 2. 7. Applications of Magnetic Tracers in the Human Lung and Gastrointestinal Tract

    Författare :Mikael Forsman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inverse solution; gastrointestinal motility; inhaled particles; gastric emptying; welding dust; MPG; pulmonary clearance; occupational health; magnetopneumography; multipole analysis; transit time;

    Sammanfattning : The use of ferrimagnetic material as a tracer represents a noninvasive approach in physiological measurements. Concerning the lung, magnetopneumography, MPG, is a unique technique to estimate retained dust in the lung, using the magnetizable dust fraction as a tracer. First a strong constant magnetic field is briefly applied to the thorax. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Development of nuclear medicine methods for gastric and small bowel motility : effects of GLP-1 on gastric emptying

    Författare :Per Grybäck; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Gastric emptying; ghrelin; glucagon-like peptide-1; 99mTc-HIDA; obesity; radionuclide investigation; small bowel transit.;

    Sammanfattning : The diagnosis of functional disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract requires techniques being both sufficiently sensitive to detect disturbances of the normal physiology and low-invasive enough not to interfere with the properties being studied. The purpose was to set up nuclear medicine methods for assessment of upper GI tract motility and study the effect of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) on gastric emptying. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Aspects on the functional characteristics of the Roux-limb after Gastric Bypass surgery

    Författare :Per Björklund; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; obesity; bariatric surgery; meal size; morphology; intestinal motility; high resolution manometry; abdominal pain; opioid analgesics;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Bariatric surgery, and particularly the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGBP) procedure, has highlighted the central role of the gastrointestinal tract in the regulation of body weight and metabolism. The Roux-limb is the part of the small intestine that has become the food recipient after RYGBP and has generally been very little studied. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Foregut motility disorders : a clinical and experimental study

    Författare :Ann Kjellin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Objective: To investigate some clinical aspects and treatment modalities of foregut motility disorders and to experimentally explore some mechanisms involved. Special emphasis has been put on elucidating and evaluating different treatment modalities. LÄS MER
