1. Laser Sheet Imaging and Image Analysis for Combustion Research
Sammanfattning : This Thesis presents techniques that aim at exploiting the potential of image analysis and processing in order to solve problems of data reduction, interpolation, quantification, and interpretation within the field of experimental laser imaging of combustion processes. Combustion is the most important source of energy for power generation, heating, and transportation in the world today and its strong dominance is projected to continue in the foreseeable future. 2. Wall Related Lean Premixed Combustion Modeled with Complex Chemistry
Sammanfattning : Increased knowledge into the physics and chemistrycontrolling emissions from flame-surface interactions shouldhelp in the design of combustion engines featuring improvedfuel economy and reduced emissions. The overall aim of this work has been to obtain afundamental understanding of wall-related, premixed combustionusing numerical modeling with detailed chemical kinetics. LÄS MER
3. Development and Application of Laser-Induced Emission Techniques for Combustion Diagnostics -High-Resolution Visualization of Turbulent Reacting Flows
Sammanfattning : Nowadays, more than 90% of our energy comes from combustion processes. Hence, it is very important to perform combustion research to reduce emissions, improve efficiency, find clean and renewable fuels, strengthen safety, etc. LÄS MER
4. Dynamics of curved flames in compressible flows
Sammanfattning : Influence of flow compressibility on propagation and stability of premixed laminar flames in gaseous combustible mixtures has been investigated. A linear analysis of the intrinsic hydrodynamical instability of a planar flame front has shown that the instability growth rate is very sensitive to the compressibility effects and can increase significantly even for rather small Mach numbers of the flame generated flow. 5. Development of Time Resolved Laser Imaging Techniques for Studies of Turbulent Reacting Flows
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis the development and application of a novel laser diagnostic system for high speed spectroscopic imaging of turbulent combustion phenomena is presented. The system is capable of recording sequences of up to 8 images with a separation between consecutive images as short as microseconds. LÄS MER
