6. Chemical Modification of Cellulose Fibres and Fibrils for Design of New Materials
Sammanfattning : Due to the growing interest in biobased materials in today’s society, where the need for a cyclic economy is obvious, there has been a huge increase in the interest for using cellulose due to its excellent mechanical and chemical properties. However, the properties of cellulose have to be modified and improved in order to satisfy advanced material applications where the cellulose properties can be tuned to fit the properties of other components in composite mixtures. 7. Melt spinning of poly(vinylidene fluoride) mono- and bicomponent fibres and yarns : the formation of piezoelectric beta-phase crystallinity
Sammanfattning : The present study investigates the possibilities of manufacturing piezoelectric polymer fibres or yarns for integration into textile materials. The polymers known to give the strongest piezoelectric effects are poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and some of its copolymers. LÄS MER
8. Lithium-intercalated Carbon Fibres : Towards the Realisation of Multifunctional Composite Energy Storage Materials
Sammanfattning : Lightweight design is a major improvement path for sustainable transport asit contributes to lower vehicles energy consumption and gas emissions. Anovel solution to weight savings is to store energy directly in the mechanicalstructure of the vehicle with a multifunctional material, called structural battery, which could simultaneously bear mechanical loads and store electricalenergy. 9. Instability in Settling Fibres : A Numerical Study
Sammanfattning : Sedimenting suspensions exist in a varity of natural phenomena and industrial applications. It is already observed in experiments that the dilute fibre suspensions experience a concentration instability under gravity at low Reynolds numbers. Initially well-mixed suspensions become inhomogeneous and anisotropic due to this instability. LÄS MER
10. Fundamental Aspects on the Re-use of Wood Based Fibres : Porous Structure of Fibres and Ink Detachment
Sammanfattning : In this work, different aspects on the re-use of wood based fibres have been studied, focusing on ink detachment of flexographic ink from model cellulose surfaces and changes in porous structure of kraft fibres following different treatments. New model systems for evaluation of ink detachment and ink-cellulose interactions were used. LÄS MER
