  1. 1. Moisture content profiles and surface phenomena during drying of wood

    Författare :Anders Rosenkilde; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :computer tomography; diffusion; magnetic resonance; moisture measurement; moisture profiles; surface emission; wood drying;

    Sammanfattning : Timber drying is one of the most important processes whenmanufacturing sawn timber products. The drying processinfluences deformations, surface checking, discoloration andhence, the product quality and the manufacturing costs. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Moisture Induced Stress Perpendicular to Grain in Timber Structures

    Författare :Martin Häglund; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wood.; timber; perpendicular to grain; load combination factor; tensile stress; mechano-sorption; Moisture induced eigen-stress; varying moisture content;

    Sammanfattning : Timber structures and wooden element are in general affected by moisture and moisture variation in different ways. Their hygroscopic properties result in adsorption of water when wetted and in desorption when dried. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A Quantitative Thermogravimetric Study on the Nonevaporable Water in Mature Silica Fume Concrete: Influence of Carbonation and Moisture Conditions

    Författare :Elisabeth Helsing Atlassi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; moisture; carbonation; cement composites; cement; thermogravimetric method;

    Sammanfattning : The primary goal of the project presented here was to study and quantify the influence of materials parameters (cement type, silica fume content, w/c ratio, type and dose of superplasticizers) and environmental parameters (carbonation and moisture history) on the nonevaporable water in hydrated cement composites. In order to achieve this, a thermogravimetric method which separates different types of nonevaporable water (bound in different hydrates and hydroxide) and carbonation products was developed. 4. 4. Wood Plastic Composites made from Modified Wood : Aspects on Moisture Sorption, Micromorphology and Durability

    Författare :Kristoffer Segerholm; Ove Söderström; Magnus Wålinder; Mats Westin; Pia Larsson Brelid; Per Johan Gustafsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Wood plastic composites; WPC; acetylation; heat treatment; furfurylation; moisture sorption; micromorphology; decay; UV laser; soil test; Biomaterials; Biomaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Wood plastic composite (WPC) materials have seen a continuous market growth worldwide in the last decade. So-called extruded WPC profiles are today mainly used in outdoor applications, e.g. decking, railing and fencing. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Moisture Induced Stresses in Timber Structures

    Författare :Johan Jönsson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknik; load carrying capacity; Technological sciences; reinforcement; short-term strength perpendicular to grain; internal stresses; glulam; contact free measuring technique moisture gradients;

    Sammanfattning : Wood is a hygroscopic material; always striving to reach equilibrium with the surrounding air, and consequently the moisture content is different in different climate conditions. The strength of wood is directly dependent on the moisture content, lower moisture content leads to increasing strength. LÄS MER
