  1. 21. Multiscale interfacial engineering of heterogeneous electrocatalysts : From structural design to mechanistic study

    Författare :Shiqi Zhou; Jiayin Yuan; Martin Oschatz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; heterogeneous electrocatalysis; electronic structure; coordination environment; single-atom catalysts; strain effect; hydrogen evolution reaction kinetics; charge transfer; electrochemical CO^2 reduction; local enrichment; materialkemi; Materials Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : In a typical heterogeneous electrocatalytic reaction, for the given active sites, the electronic structure plays a determining role in electron transfer between the active sites and reactant molecules, which impacts the reaction efficiency. Besides the electronic properties of the electrocatalysts, the reaction interface at which the charge transfer occurs plays an important role in the reaction kinetics. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Structural and functional studies of the ribosomes : a closer look at expansion segments and translational dynamics in eukaryotes

    Författare :Sofia L. Larsson; Alexei A. Bogdanov; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ribosomer; Zoological Cell Biology; zoologisk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The ribosome is the basic machinery for protein synthesis in all living cells. In the last decade, there has been an explosion of structural information on the ribosome. The eukaryotic ribosome is larger than the prokaryotic counterpart and contains several extra features, even though they have similar core structures. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, photophysical aspects and applications

    Författare :Jerker Widengren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) is a technique where dynamic processes on the molecular level are studied by the use of fluorescence. The molecules are excited within a focused stationary laser beam and the resulting fluorescence fluctuations are analyzed in the form of an autocorrelation function. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Mechanics and acoustics of violin bowing : Freedom, constraints and control in performance

    Författare :Erwin Schoonderwaldt; Anders Askenfelt; Knut Guettler; Jim Woodhouse; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; bow-string interaction; bowed string; violin playing; motion capture; bowing parameters; performance control; Other physics; Övrig fysik; Music; Musikvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses sound production in bowed-string instruments from two perspectives: the physics of the bowed string, and bow control in performance. Violin performance is characterized by an intimate connection between the player and the instrument, allowing for a continuous control of the sound via the main bowing parameters (bow velocity, bow force and bow-bridge distance), but imposing constraints as well.
