  1. 1. The Prognostic and Treatment Predictive Value of Proliferation and TIMP-1 in Breast Cancer

    Författare :Marie Klintman; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; predictive marker; resistance; prognostic factor; proliferation; prospective; TIMP-1; Ki67; S-phase; MAI; PPH3; cyclin B1; cyclin A; node-negative; validation;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common tumour form and the second leading cause of death in solid tumours in women in the Western world. Despite improvements in the treatment, a considerable number of patients will relapse and die from their breast cancer. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Artificial neural networks classify myocardial perfusion images

    Författare :Dan Lindahl; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; radionuclide imaging; ischemic heart disease; computer-assisted diagnosis; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Sammanfattning : In the studies of this thesis, a method for automated classification of myocardial perfusion images was successfully developed and evaluated. The results show that the method, based on artificial neural networks, was equally good, or even better than human experts. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Diffuse Optical Spectroscopy and Imaging of Turbid Media

    Författare :Can Xu; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; upconverting nanoparticles; luminescence; fluorescence; inverse problem; diffuse reflection spectroscopy; biomedical optics; photon migration; biomedical imaging; gas spectroscopy; medical diagnostics; tomography; Fysicumarkivet A:2013:Xu;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with optical spectroscopy and imaging of complex and strongly scattering turbid media. Focus is mainly placed on three topics, being i) diffuse optical spectroscopy of choroidal tumors, ii) gas spectroscopy in scattering materials using the GASMAS (gas in scattering media absorption spectroscopy) technique, and iii) luminescence diffuse optical imaging and tomography of tissues. 4. 4. Sedation during mechanical ventilation in intensive care - Sedation practices and patients' memories, stressful experiences and psychological distress

    Författare :Karin Samuelson; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intensive care unit; Mechanical ventilation; Patient comfort; intensive care; Anaesthesiology; intensivvård; Anestesiologi; Sedation; Respiratory nursing;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe and determine intensive care sedation in adult mechanically ventilated patients with the emphasis on patients? memory, stressful experiences and psychological distress. The results are based on a nationwide postal survey (Paper I) including 89 Swedish intensive care units (ICUs) followed by a prospective cohort study (Papers II?IV) conducted over 18 months in 2 ICUs including 313 mechanically ventilated adults admitted for more than 24 hours. 5. 5. Filtering and Wavelet Regression Methods with Application to Exercise ECG

    Författare :Stefan Peterson; Matematisk statistik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aktuariematematik; programmering; operationsanalys; Statistik; actuarial mathematics; programming; operations research; Statistics; Model Selection; Robust Estimation; Haar Wavelets; Wavelets; Time Series Analysis; Exercise ECG; Kalman Filter;

    Sammanfattning : The analysis of the recorded electrical activity of the heart during an exercise test is a valuable method for investigating a patient's circulatory and respiratory system. But the disturbances that occurr during a test often make it difficult to interpret the signal in order to detect changes evoked by the increased workload and related to for instance coronary artery diseases.
