16. Essays on human capital & econometric methods
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis in Economics consists of four self-contained chapters.“Did the apple fall far from the tree?” examines the interaction of uncertain-ty and learning about ability with family background in the determination of human capital decisions. LÄS MER
17. Concurrent Algorithms and Data Structures for Many-Core Processors
Sammanfattning : The convergence of highly parallel many-core graphics processors with conventional multi-core processorsis becoming a reality. To allow algorithms and data structures to scale efficiently on these new platforms, several important factors needs to be considered. LÄS MER
18. Thermal Interference Between Neighbouring Ground-Source Heat Pumps : Tools to Calcualte it and Solutions to Limit it
Sammanfattning : Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs) have emerged as a promising technology for decarbonization of the heating sector. However, their increasing prevalence in densely populated areas may lead to considerable changes in the ground temperature, which can ultimately lead to reduced performance of the systems. LÄS MER
19. Ultra-Wideband Low-Noise Amplifier andSix-Port Transceiver for High Speed DataTransmission
Sammanfattning : Today’s data rates in wired networks can reach 100 Gbit/s using optical fiber while data rates in wireless networks are much lower - tens of Mbit/s for 3G mobile communication and 480 Mbit/s for ultra-wideband (UWB) short range wireless communications. This difference in data rates can mainly be explained by the limited allowed frequency spectrum, the nature of the radio signal and the high requirements imposed on all hardware designed for high speed and wideband wireless communications. 20. On LQG-Optimal Event-Based Sampling
Sammanfattning : Event-based control is a promising concept for the design of resource-efficient feedback systems, where events such as sampling, actuation, and data transmissions are triggered reactively based on monitored control performance rather than a periodic timer. In this thesis, we investigate how sampling and communication events should be triggered to fully exploit the potential of event-based control based on the classic linear–quadratic–Gaussian (LQG) framework.
