  1. 6. Numerical Investigations on Debris Bed Coolability and Mitigation Measures in Nordic Boiling Water Reactors

    Författare :Zheng Huang; Weimin Ma; Florian Fichot; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Severe accident; Debris bed; Coolability; Quench; Oxidation; MEWA code; Coupled analysis; Svåra haverier; Grusbädd; Kylbarhet; Kylning; Oxidering; MEWA program; Kopplad analys; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is aiming at coolability assessment of particulate debris beds formed in hypothetical severe accidents of Nordic boiling water reactors (BWRs) which may employ either lower drywell flooding or control rod guide tubes (CRGT) cooling as severe accident management strategies. For this purpose, quench and cooling limit (dryout) of debris beds after their formation from fuel coolant interactions were investigated by numerical simulations using the MEWA code. LÄS MER

    Författare :Yan Xiang; Weimin Ma; Sevostian Bechta; Andrei A. Komlev; Michael Buck; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Severe accident; fuel coolant interactions; metallic melt; jet fragmentation; debris bed; CLSVOF.; Svåra haverier; interaktioner mellan bränsle och kylmedel; metallsmälta; jetfragmentering; grusbädd; CLSVOF; Kärnenergiteknik; Nuclear Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : To assess corium coolability during severe accidents of LWR, significant number of studies have been conducted previously to investigate the characteristics of debris beds formed from FCI due to fragmentation of molten corium and settlement of the fragments in a water pool. However, their focus has been placed on the oxidic component (UO2/ZrO2) of corium, while little attention has been paid to the debris bed formation due to FCI of the metallic component (Zr/Fe) of corium.     Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : River flow velocity is critical information for hydraulic and hydrological applications. Monitoring flow fields in near-plant waterways and river reach has wide engineering applications insustainable hydropower generation. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Time dependent flow of biolubricant and suspended particles behavior within total hip replacement

    Författare :Alaleh Safari; Nazanin Emami; Michel Cervantes; Maria-Pau Ginebra; Zhongmin Jin; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Sammanfattning : Total hip replacement (THR) has been one of the most successful surgeries in the 21st century. Ultra-high-molecular-weight-polyethylene (UHMWPE) shows favorable mechanical and tribological properties when used as a bearing surface material in THR. However, produced UHMWPE wear particles challenge increasing the THR lifetimes. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Bioprocess Monitoring and Control in Pseudomonas cepacia and recombinant Escherichia coli cultivations

    Författare :Anita Tocaj; LTH Ingenjörshögskolan vid Campus Helsingborg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; protein L; expanded bed; flow-injection analysis; recombinant protein production; acetic acid; on-line measurements; Pseudomonas cepacia; recombinant Escherichia coli; Fed-batch cultivations; control strategies; xylanase deletion derivatives from Rhodothermus marinus; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The control of cultivation conditions and its influence on growth and production have been investigated. The use of fed-batch processes have been demonstrated for several cultivation systems and so has the use of different control signals in these systems. LÄS MER
