1. The BIG ghost
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we present work done in an analysis of models of brane induced gravity. These are higher dimensional generalizations of Einstein's General relativity where our universe is considered as a brane in a higher dimensional bulk and where the gravitational dynamics on the brane is enhanced. 2. New horizons in string theory : bubble babble in search of darkness
Sammanfattning : It was discovered nearly two decades ago that we live in an accelerating universe that is dominated by dark energy. Understanding the origin of such an energy has turned out to be a very difficult open question in physics, and calls on the need for a fundamental theory like string theory. LÄS MER
3. Multipoint Okounkov bodies, strong topology of ω-plurisubharmonic functions and Kähler-Einstein metrics with prescribed singularities
Sammanfattning : The most classical topic in Kähler Geometry is the study of Kähler-Einstein metrics as solution of complex Monge-Ampère equations. This thesis principally regards the investigation of a strong topology for ω-plurisubharmonic functions on a fixed compact Kähler manifold (X,ω), its connection with complex Monge-Ampère equations with prescribed singularities and the consequent study of singular Kähler-Einstein metrics. 4. Delving in the Dark : Searching for Signatures of Non-Standard Physics in Cosmological and Astrophysical Observables
Sammanfattning : The dark sectors of our Universe, dark matter and dark energy, together constitute about 96 % of the total energy content of the Universe. To date, we only have observational evidence for their existence. LÄS MER
5. Perturbative Methods in General Relativity
Sammanfattning : Einstein's theory of general relativity is a cornerstone in the process of gaining increased understanding about problems of gravitational nature. It can be applied to problems on the huge length scales of cosmology and as far as we know it does not break down before the Planck scale is approached. LÄS MER
