  1. 1. Harvesting of Saphenous Vein for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting : An Improved Technique that Maintains Vein Wall Integrity and Provides a High Early Patency Rate

    Författare :Domingos Souza; Kjell Rådegran; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Saphenous vein; coronary bypass; endothelium; nitric oxide; patency rate; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Thoracic and Cardivascular Suregery; kirurgi; särskilt thoraxkirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : The primary aim of this thesis was to modify saphenous vein (SV) harvesting technique and evaluate its clinical importance. A new "no touch" (NT) technique of SV preparation was developed where the vein is harvested with a pedicle of surrounding tissue, which protects the vein from spasm therefore obviating the need for distension. 2. 2. Conduits in coronary artery bypass grafting surgery : Saphenous vein, radial and internal thoracic arteries

    Författare :Mats Dreifaldt; Domingos Souza; Lars Norgren; Mats G. Karlsson; Michael R. Dashwood; Anders Jeppson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiac surgery; Coronary artery bypass; Saphenous vein; Radial artery; Internal thoracic artery; Vasa vasorum; Nitric oxide; Graft patency; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : A novel technique for saphenous vein (SV) graft harvesting, the No-touch technique (NT), has been developed at the Dept. of Cardiovascular surgery, Örebro University hospital. With NT the SV is harvested with a pedicle of surrounding tissue. This avoids graft spasm and eliminates the need for distension. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation after Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting : Risk factors and clinical outcome

    Författare :Emma Thorén; Elisabeth Ståhle; Elmir Omerovic; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atrial fibrillation; coronary artery bypass grafting; coronary artery disease; epidemiology; morbidity; mortality; outcome;

    Sammanfattning : Postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) is a common complication after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), and more knowledge is needed regarding prediction of POAF, the extent of early atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence after discharge, and the associations between POAF and short and long-term overall and cause-specific mortality and morbidity.After CABG, 31-32% of all patients developed POAF. 4. 4. Manifestations and Survival in Coronary Heart Disease

    Författare :Kerstin Dudas; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :coronary heart disease; acute coronary syndrome; coronary-bypass grafting; mortality; case fatality; survival; manifestation; predictors; risk factors; trends; cholesterol;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: To investigate how risk factors predict manifestations in coronary heart disease (CHD), and trends in short-term and long-term survival including trends in out-of-hospital mortality. Populations and methods: In the first study 7388 men aged 47 to 55 and free of previous acute myocardial infarction (AMI) or stroke were investigated during 28 years’ follow-up. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Atrial Fibrillation in the setting of Coronary Artery Disease : Risks and outcomes with different treatment options

    Författare :Gorav Batra; Jonas Oldgren; Gunnar Gislason; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atrial fibrillation; coronary artery disease; acute coronary syndrome; myocardial infarction; percutaneous coronary intervention; coronary artery bypass grafting; antithrombotic therapy; angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors; angiotensin II receptor blockers; epidemiology; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of mortality worldwide and atrial fibrillation (AF) is a prevalent arrhythmia associated with increased risk of mortality and morbidity. Despite improved outcome in both diseases, there is a need to further describe the prevalence, outcome and management of CAD in patients with concomitant AF. LÄS MER
