16. Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering of Rare-Earth and Copper Systems
Sammanfattning : Rare earths and copper systems were studied using X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS). The use of monochromased synchrotron radiation and improved energy resolution for RIXS made possible to obtain valuable information on the electronic structure in 4f, 5f and 3d systems. LÄS MER
17. Advances in the Application and Understanding of the CHALMEX FS-13 Process
Sammanfattning : During the last year, the European demand for electricity has increased and at the same time, the production of planned electricity generation has decreased due to unexpected weather conditions and war. Combined with a limited capability to store energy, low-carbon energy producers such as nuclear power is getting renewed attention in many countries. LÄS MER
18. Diluent and Solvent Effects in Liquid-Liquid Extraction Systems based on bis-triazine-bipyrididine (BTBP)-class Ligands
Sammanfattning : Used nuclear fuel taken directly from a reactor is radiotoxic for mankind and its environment for a long time. One of the major contributions to the long time radiotoxicity is the presence of a group of elements called the actinides. LÄS MER
19. Resonant Soft X-ray Spectroscopic Studies of Light Actinides and Copper Systems
Sammanfattning : Light actinides and copper systems were studied using resonant soft X-ray spectroscopy. An instrumental and experimental setup for soft X-ray spectroscopy meeting the requirements of a closed source for radioactivity was developed and described in detail. The setup was used for studies of single-crystal PuO2 oxidation. LÄS MER
20. Accelerator-driven systems : safety and kinetics
Sammanfattning : The accelerator-driven system (ADS) is recognized as a promising system for the purpose of nuclear waste transmutation and minimization of spent fuel radiotoxicity. The primary cause for this derives from its accelerator-driven, sub-critical operating state, which introduces beneficial safety-related features allowing for application of cores employing fuel systems containing pure transuranics or minor actinides, thereby offering increased incineration rate of waste products and minimal deployment of advanced (and expensive) partitioning and transmutation technologies.
