  1. 1. Mass Transport via Thermoplasmonics

    Författare :Steven Jones; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : When a metallic nanoparticle is illuminated with light under resonant conditions, the free electron gas oscillates in such a way that substantial amplification of the local electric field amplitude is achieved – this is known as a plasmonic resonance. This resonance enhances both the optical scattering as well as absorption. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Thermoplasmonic Effects in Microfluidic Systems

    Författare :Steven Jones; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thermometry; thermoplasmonic bubbles; thermoplasmonics; plasmonics; thermophoresis;

    Sammanfattning : The field of plasmonics has enabled a plethora of scientific achievements over the past few decades. Such advances have been the result of the increased light-matter interaction that occurs over nanoscale dimensions facilitated by the localized plasmonic resonances supported by noble metal nanoparticles. 3. 3. Stories of masculinity, gender equality, and culinary progress : On foodwork, cooking, and men in Sweden

    Författare :Nicklas Neuman; Christina Fjellström; Lucas Gottzén; Steven Jones; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; foodwork; cooking; food studies; men and masculinities; gender equality; domestic work; culinary excellence; food; gastronomy; celebrity chefs; national identity; androcentrism; homosociality; Kostvetenskap; Food; Nutrition and Dietetics;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis is to use foodwork and cooking in Sweden as a way to better understand theoretical questions about men and masculinities. Paper I discusses how an increased public interest in elaborate cooking and gastronomy in Sweden, a country with a cultural idealization of gender equality, could explain why men in Sweden assume responsibilities for domestic cooking without feeling emasculated.
