  2. 2. Development of a Novel Gas Turbine Simulator for Hybrid Solar-Brayton Systems

    Författare :Tianyao Pan; Björn Laumert; Wujun Wang; Konstantinos Kyprianidis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gas turbine simulator; concentrating solar power; hybrid solar-Brayton system; pressure controller; choked nozzle; Programmable logic controller; proportional solenoid valve.; Gasturbinsimulator; koncentrerad solenergi; hybrid solenergi-Brayton-system; tryckregulator; strypt munstycke; programmerbar logikkontroller; proportionell magnetventil.; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Hybrid solar-Brayton systems utilize both solar thermal energy and supplementary renewable fuels to provide controllable and dispatchable power output, which renders them a promising way to meet the growing energy demand and reduce the carbon footprints. However, existing testing facilities for key components in such hybrid systems often fail to accomplish the testing requirements, hence impeding the improvement of the renewable energy share and the overall efficiency. 3. 3. Solar receiver development for gas-turbine based solar dish systems

    Författare :Lukas Aichmayer; Björn Laumert; Konstantinos Kyprianidis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Concentrating solar power; volumetric solar receiver; development; experimental evaluation; validation; Koncentrerad solkraft; volumetrisk solmottagare; utveckling; experimentell utvärdering; validering; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Small-scale concentrating solar power plants such as micro gas-turbine based solar dish systems have the potential to harness solar energy in an effective way and supply electricity to customers in remote areas. In such systems, the solar receiver transfers the power of concentrated solar radiation to the working fluid of the power conversion cycle. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Nanostructured ZnO electrodes for solar cell applications

    Författare :Karin Keis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Zinc oxide; nanostructured; mesoporous; photoelectrochemistry; solar cells; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the possibilities of using nanostructured dye-sensitized ZnO electrodes for solar energy conversion in photoelectrochemical solar cells are investigated. In order to characterize the photoelectrochemical properties of unsensitized ZnO films, measurements were performed using a short laser pulse (laser flash induced current transients) and under continuous illumination (steady-state). 5. 5. Solar Assisted Pervaporation (SAP) : A process using membrane pouches and solar energy for the dehydration and preservation of fruit juices in rural and remote areas

    Författare :Randi Phinney; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; membrane; pervaporation; fruit preservation; solar drying; heat and mass transfer; coupling effects;

    Sammanfattning : Drying has been used for thousands of years to preserve foods. One of the first methods used was open air sun drying which exposes foods directly to solar radiation and ambient air. This method is still used today around the world but it remains underdeveloped on the small-scale for two main reasons. LÄS MER
