  1. 1. Genetic Profiling in Soft Tissue Sarcoma

    Författare :Princy Francis; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; synovial sarcoma; prognosis; Cytology; SS18-SSX; intratumor heterogeneity; aCGH; array comparative genomic hybridization; gene expression analysis; microarray; cDNA; Soft tissue sarcoma; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Soft tissue sarcomas (STS) are a heterogeneous group of highly malignant mesenchymal tumors that account for ~1% of all malignancies. Frequent heterogeneity and pleomorphism along with suboptimal diagnostic reproducibility and insufficient prognostic markers make clinical management of these tumors difficult. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Synovial sarcoma : molecular, biological and clinical implications

    Författare :Maria Törnkvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :synovial sarcoma; translocations; fusion genes; SS18-SSX; IGF-1R; cyclin D1; antisense oligodeoxynucleotides.;

    Sammanfattning : Synovial sarcoma is a rare but mostly aggressive soft tissue tumor that mainly affects children and young adults. The tumor usually occurs in the vicinity of large joints, and may be subdivided into a classical biphasic type, a monophasic type or a poorly differentiated type, depending on histomorphological appearance. 3. 3. Activity and mechanism of action of histone deacetylase inhibitors in synovial sarcoma

    Författare :Limin Ma; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Synovial sarcoma is a rare but aggressive paediatric soft tissue sarcoma that is driven by the genomic rearrangement t(X;18)(p11.2;q11.2). The resulting fusion protein, SS18- SSX, exhibits oncogenic properties through protein-protein interactions that alter gene transcriptions and chromatin remodelling. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Molecular mechanisms underlying the oncogenic function of SS18 and SSX

    Författare :Pádraig D'Arcy; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The SS18 and SSX genes were initially identified based on their reoccurrence as fusion partners in synovial sarcoma. As a result of the specific chromosomal translocation t(X:18), the SS18 gene from chromosome 18 becomes fused with members of the SSX gene family on the X chromosome resulting in the generation of a novel chimeric fusion gene SS18-SSX.
