1. The geochemistry of groundwater and soils contaminated by acid mine leachate : a field study from Rudolfsgruvan, Dalarna, Sweden
Sammanfattning : .... LÄS MER
2. Predictions Within and Across Aquatic Systems using Statistical Methods and Models
Sammanfattning : Aquatic ecosystems are an essential source for life and, in many regions, are exploited to a degree which deteriorates their ecological status. Today, more than 50 % of the European lakes suffer from an ecological status which is unsatisfactory. LÄS MER
3. Quantification of mineral weathering rates in sulfidic mine tailings under water-saturated conditions
Sammanfattning : Tailings are a fine-grained waste product produced during the metal recovery process. Tailings consist mostly of different silicates but also sulfides (e.g. pyrite), since 100 % metal recovery is not possible. LÄS MER
4. Environmental levels of thallium : influence of redox properties and anthropogenic sources
Sammanfattning : Thallium is a highly toxic element that humans are exposed to mainly by consumption of drinking water and vegetables grown in soil with high thallium content but also through inhalation of particles in the air. Thallium is also present in fossil fuels, alloys, and in electronic utilities. LÄS MER
5. Field and pilot-scale geochemical investigations into using sewage sludge for sulphidic mine waste remediation
Sammanfattning : Successful mine waste reclamation is a fundamental aspect in mine plan development and is legislated through the European Parliament’s ‘Management of Waste from Extractive Industries Directive (2006/21/EC)’. Field and pilot-scale trials were utilised to evaluate different applications of an alternative cover material, sewage sludge, in its ability to remediate and prevent acid rock drainage formation from sulphidic mine tailings derived from the Kristineberg Zn-Cu mine, northern Sweden.
