1. Morphometrical Methodology in Quantification of Biological Tissue Components
Sammanfattning : Objective:To develop and validate computer-assisted morphometrical methods, based on stereological theory, in order to facilitate the analysis and quantitative measurements of biological tissue components.Material and methods:Biopsy specimens from the vaginal wall or from the vestibulum vaginae of healthy women, or from women suffering from incontinence or vestibulitis were used. 2. Form and Function of Coastal Areas
Sammanfattning : Coastal waters have high biological productivity and provide goods and services with a high monetary value. Coasts are used by many different stakeholders and are often densely populated. LÄS MER
3. Late Eocene through Oligocene calcareous nannofossils from the paleo-equatorial Pacific Ocean – taxonomy, preservation history, biochronology and evolution
Sammanfattning : This study aims to unravel the ecological and evolutionary dynamics within the calcareous nannofossil communities at the Eocene/Oligocene (E/O) transition and during the Oligocene time when Cenozoic 'icehouse' conditions were established. The main question this study aims to answer is whether the changes in the nannofossil assemblages were controlled by intrinsic evolutionary trends or if the changes were controlled by environmental factors such as changes in temperature and nutrient availability in the surface water. 4. Systematics, phylogeography and polyploid evolution in the Dactylorhiza maculata complex (Orchidaceae)
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate and describe different aspects of variation in the Dactylorhiza maculata complex and to relate the variation patterns to underlying biological processes such as Quaternary migration history, hybridization and polyploid evolution. The variation patterns were analysed at various geographic levels using molecular markers (plastid DNA and ITS of nrDNA), cytological data, morphometry and ecological data. LÄS MER
5. The vagina : morphological, functional and ecological aspects
Sammanfattning : The vagina is one organ of the body which has not been studied exhaustively. Moreover, most of the studies found in the contemporary literature have been performed on women affected by a variety of genital diseases. LÄS MER
