  1. 1. EMBRYONIC GLIA AND FOREBRAIN NEUROGENESIS; in vitro generation and differentiation of telencephalic neurons

    Författare :Charlotta Skogh; Neurobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; beta tubulin III; GFAP; RC2; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurofysiologi; DARPP-32; retinoic acid; serum; EGF; co-culture; cell culture; striatum; LGE; progenitor; precursor; radial glia; region specific; development; CNS; mouse; human; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The current thesis is aimed to increase our understanding of the generation and differentiation of telencephalic neurons, with emphasis on the role of glial cells in these processes. Using in vitro methods we have studied the role of glial cells in neurogenesis, inheritance of genetic regional specification, and influence on differentiation of neurons. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Neuronal and glial differentiation of expanded neural stem and progenitor cells; in vitro and after transplantation

    Författare :Cecilia Eriksson Linsmeier; Neurobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gtv-a; RCAS A -EGFP; transplantation; cell detection; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; GFP-actin; glial differentiation; neuronal differentiation; neurospheres; glial cultures; bFGF; EGF; cell expansion; cortical primordium; MGE; LGE; CNS; stem- progenitor cells;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we have used cells dissected from the lateral ganglionic eminence (LGE), the medial ganglionic eminence (MGE), and the cortical primordium of the embryonic mouse forebrain. The tissue was dissected from either i) wild-type mice, ii) green fluorescent protein (GFP)-, or iii) Gtv-a-expressing transgenic mice, and subsequently grown and expanded in vitro using two different protocols. 3. 3. Nuclear receptor and Wnt function in developing dopaminergic neurons

    Författare :Kyle Matthew Sousa; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The progressive degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra is one of the major pathological events associated with Parkinson’s Disease. Dopaminergic (DA) cell replacement therapy has emerged in recent years as a possible approach towards treating Parkinsonism. LÄS MER
