  1. 1. Flow and Compression of Granulated Powders : The Accuracy of Discrete Element Simulations and Assessment of Tablet Microstructure

    Författare :Ann-Sofie Persson; Göran Frenning; Göran Alderborn; Marie Wahlgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Discrete Element Method; Granule; Flow; Angle of Repose; Discharge Rate; Shear; Rolling friction; Compression; Elastic deformation; Microstructure; Degree of compression; Tensile strength; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Simulations are powerful and important tools for gaining insight into powder processes. Ultimately, simulations have the potential to replace experiments. Thus, accurate models and insight into the essential factors for descriptions of powder behaviour are required. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Influence of Composition and Pore Geometry on Immiscible Fluid Flow through Greensands: Development of Neutron Transmission Methods and Image Analysis

    Författare :Mikael Solymar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pore geometry; image analysis; fluid flow; petrography; greensand; porosity; glauconite; permeability; neutron transmission methods; fluid saturation;

    Sammanfattning : The effect of the mineralogical composition and pore geometry of sediments on the distribution as well as the flow of immiscible fluids are of importance when evaluating petroleum reservoirs. Greensand containing the clay mineral glauconite is a complex reservoir rock type. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mechanisms of transendothelial and tissue transport in the peritoneum. Experimental studies on rat

    Författare :Bert-Inge Rosengren; Njurmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nefrologi; Urologi; hyaluronan; interstitium; blood flow; rat; pore; inhibition; temperature; peritoneal dialysis; permeability; capillary; protein; passive; active; transport; transcytosis; vesicle; Urology; nephrology; small solute;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, the quantitative role of active transport (transcytosis) in bulk transvascular protein movement in vivo was evaluated. Using chemical transcytosis inhibition (N-ethylmaleimide (NEM) and filipin), we were able to show that NEM actually increases endothelial permeability to macromolecules, probably as a result of unspecific toxic action on endothelial cells. 4. 4. Process Models for CO2 Migration and Leakage : Gas Transport, Pore-Scale Displacement and Effects of Impurities

    Författare :Farzad Basirat; Auli Niemi; Karsten Jensen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geological Carbon Storage; CO2 leakage; Field experiment; Laboratory experiment design; Multi-phase flow; Heterogeneity; Wettability; Pore-scale modeling; Impurity gases; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Geological Carbon Storage (GCS) is considered as one of the key techniques to reduce the rate of atmospheric emissions of CO2 and thereby to contribute to controlling the global warming. A successful application of a GCS project requires the capability of the formation to trap CO2 for a long term. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Superporous agarose a new material for chromatography

    Författare :Per-Erik Gustavsson; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Protein separations; Chromatography; Superporous agarose; Continuous agarose beds; Intraparticle convection; Pore flow; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Agarose, the most commonly employed chromatography base material in industrial purification processes for biomolecules – proteins, has almost ideal properties. The major disadvantage of the agarose support is its poor mechanical strength which excludes its use in high speed separations where small particles are needed in order to achieve improved chromatographic efficiency.
