  1. 1. Bracing of steel bridges during construction; theory, full-scale tests and simulations

    Författare :Hassan Mehri; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bracing; steel-concrete composite; steel; bridge; test; construction; laboratory; experiment; experimental; theory;

    Sammanfattning : A number of steel bridges have suffered lateral-torsional failure during their construction due to their lacking adequate lateral and/or rotational stiffness. In most cases, slight bracing can be of great benefit to the main girders involved through their controlling out-of-plane deformations and enabling the resistance that is needed to be achieved. 2. 2. Experimental and Modelling Studies on the Spreading of Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids in Heterogeneous Media

    Författare :Fritjof Fagerlund; Auli Niemi; Tissa Illangasekare; Karsten Jensen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Hydrology; NAPL; Multi-phase flow; Modelling; Experiment design; Heterogeneity; Constitutive relations; Multi-constituent contaminants; Capillary pressure; Relative permeability; Hysteresis; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids (NAPLs) include commonly occurring organic contaminants such as gasoline, diesel fuel and chlorinated solvents. When released to subsurface environments their spreading is a complex process of multi-component, multi-phase flow. LÄS MER

  3. 3. CFRP strengthening of concrete slabs, with and without openings : experiment, analysis, design and field application

    Författare :Ola Enochsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Rehabilitation and strengthening of concrete structures with externally bonded FRP (Fibre Reinforced Polymers) has been a viable technique for at least a decade. The most common way to strengthen a structure is in flexure where thedesign normally follows traditional concrete design, with exceptions for control of bond and anchorage related to the FRP. 4. 4. Process Models for CO2 Migration and Leakage : Gas Transport, Pore-Scale Displacement and Effects of Impurities

    Författare :Farzad Basirat; Auli Niemi; Karsten Jensen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geological Carbon Storage; CO2 leakage; Field experiment; Laboratory experiment design; Multi-phase flow; Heterogeneity; Wettability; Pore-scale modeling; Impurity gases; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Geological Carbon Storage (GCS) is considered as one of the key techniques to reduce the rate of atmospheric emissions of CO2 and thereby to contribute to controlling the global warming. A successful application of a GCS project requires the capability of the formation to trap CO2 for a long term. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The mechanical Paul trap in the upper secondary physics laboratory

    Författare :Sebastian Kilde Löfgren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics education research; discipline-based education research; physics laboratory; design-based research; variation theory; model-based science; modelling; mechanical Paul trap; Paul trap.;

    Sammanfattning : In physics, toy models are often used in popular science contexts. Further, toy models have also been used to communicate some important principles of abstract phenomena qualitatively. One such example can be found in the 1989 Nobel laureate Wolfgang Paul’s Nobel lecture. LÄS MER
