    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Accelerated ageing; Activation energy; Annealing; Cables; Dehydrochlorination; Dismantling; DSC; Elongation at break; Emissions; Energy recovery; Flooring; Heat ageing; Lifetime; Orientation; Physical ageing; Plasticised PVC; Plasticiser depletion; Profiles; Recycling; Repeated extrusion; Residual stability; Rigid PVC; Sustainable building; Chlorination; Degradation; Durability; Mechanical properties; Plastic building materials; Plasticizers; Stabilizers agents ; Tensile properties; Molecular level; Polyvinyl chlorides;

    Sammanfattning : The potential for recycling various polymeric materials contained within buildings constructed in the late 1960s and 1970s in Sweden was investigated during the course of this work. Three residential blocks were studied to establish the quantity of materials available for recycling, to investigate the difficulty in and time needed for the dismantling of the buildings, the degree of purity of the materials, and the possibility of separating the materials. 2. 2. Multiscale Constitutive Modeling of Heterogeneous Engineering Materials

    Författare :Johan Jansson; Kent Salomonsson; Jakob Olofsson; Julian J. Rimoli; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : This work deals with different methods used to determine heterogeneous constitutive model parameters for macro-scale finite element models, based on microstructural variations, caused by the manufacturing process. These methods could be applied to decrease modeling errors associated with the material behavior, improving the predictive capabilities of structural analyses in simulation-driven industrial product development. 3. 3. Characterisation of thermally modified wood for use as component in biobased building materials

    Författare :Susanna Källbom; Magnus Wålinder; Dennis Jones; Kristiina Lillqvist; Kristoffer Segerholm; Marko Petrič; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thermally modified wood TMW components; surface properties; inverse gas chromatography IGC ; water sorption; dynamic vapour sorption DVS ; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The building sector shows growing interest in biobased building materials. Wood components, here defined as ground or milled wood, i.e. by-products (residuals/residues) from wood processing, such as sawdust or shavings, are valuable raw materials for new types of durable biocomposites suitable for outdoor building applications. 4. 4. Geotechnical Aspects of Buildings on Expansive Soils in Kibaha, Tanzania : Preliminary Study

    Författare :Charles Lucian; Staffan Hintze; Bo Berggren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; expansive soils; soil properties; potential swell; Soil-Structure Interaction SSI ; and superstructure and substructure.; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this study is on potential problems resulting from construction on expansive soils in Kibaha region, Tanzania. For the fact that most of the affected structures are founded on expansive soils, a clear understanding of the soil behaviour and their interaction with structures, specifically as they relate to shallow foundations, has been of more interest to the study in order to evaluate properly the source of the problem. 5. 5. Characteristics of wood plastic composites based on modified wood : Moisture properties, biological performance and micromorphology

    Författare :Kristoffer Segerholm; Magnus Wålinder; Mark Hughes; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wood plastic composites; WPC; acetylation; thermal modification; furfurylation; moisture sorption; biological durability; UV excimer laser; micromorphology;

    Sammanfattning : Biobased materials made from renewable resources, such as wood, play an important role in the sustainable development of society. One main challenge of biobased building materials is their inherent moisture sensitivity, a major cause for fungal decay, mold growth and dimensional instability, resulting in decreased service life as well as costly maintenance.
