1. Regulation of cellular growth and identification of stromal gene signatures in breast cancer
Sammanfattning : Normal tissue is tightly controlled to keep a balance between reproduction and elimination of cells. In cancer, these regulated processes are disrupted, resulting in uncontrolled cell growth. Regulation of RNA stability and turnover is important to maintain cellular homeostasis and can be controlled by various mechanisms. LÄS MER
2. Functional aspects of modified nucleosides in tRNA
Sammanfattning : Transfer ribonucleic acids (tRNAs) are extensively modified, especially their anticodon loops. Modifications at position 34 (wobble base) and 37 in these loops affect the tRNAs’ decoding ability, while modifications outside the anticodon loops, e.g. m1A58 of tRNAMeti, may be crucial for tRNA structure or stability. 3. Leishmania donovani lipophosphoglycan : effects on actin and phagosomal maturation
Sammanfattning : Leishmania donovani promastigotes survive intracellularly in macrophages by inhibiting phagosomal maturation. This ability is conferred by surface lipophosphoglycan (LPG), which is transferred to the host-cell plasma and phagosomal membranes during phagocytosis. LÄS MER
4. Roles of protein kinase C in cell death and breast cancer
Sammanfattning : Aberrant protein kinase C (PKC) activity and expression is implicated in different malignancies. To study the role of different PKC isoforms in breast cancer the expression of PCKα, δ and ε was evaluated in breast cancer tumors. In addition the effect of siRNA-mediated knockdown of the isoforms was studied in a global gene expression analysis. LÄS MER
5. Protein Kinase C as an Apoptosis Regulator and a Potential Prognostic Factor in Breast Cancer
Sammanfattning : Several protein kinase C (PKC) isoforms have been suggested as potential targets for breast cancer therapy. To explore the role for PKC isoforms in processes that facilitates malignant progression and the utility of PKC isoforms as biomarkers in breast cancer, we designed a study where we evaluated the expression of PKCα, δ, and ε in primary breast cancers as well as in breast cancer cell lines.
