16. Experimental and theoretical studies of nitride fuels
Sammanfattning : With respect to nitrides being considered as potential fast reactor fuels, research is conducted on the out-of-pile thermophysical properties, sintering and fabrication processes, gas migration mechanisms, self-diffusion and point defect behaviour of actinide nitrides, their surrogate materials, and the inert matrix material ZrN . The experimental research, carried out in the framework of qualifying fuel for the European Lead Cooled Training Reactor (ELECTRA), shows that sintered ZrN and (Dy,Zr)N pellet densities are influenced by the oxygen concentration in the material. 17. Small-Scale Production of Fuel-Cell Hydrogen
Sammanfattning : The work presented here aims at producing hydrogen for proton-exchange fuel-cell applications from hydrocarbons. This thesis describes an integrated catalytic converter comprising a steam-reforming reactor (heat of reaction supplied by catalytic combustion), a water-gas shift reactor and a preferential oxidation of carbon monoxide reactor, and the work performed on the fuel processing catalysts therein. 18. Development and Assessment of Regeneration Methods for Commercial Automotive Three-Way Catalysts
Sammanfattning : Car exhaust catalysts were introduced in the early 1980’s, to limit the release of pollutants such as hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. These catalysts contain noble metals such as palladium (Pd), platinum (Pt) and rhodium (Rh) and are able to simultaneously abate all three of the above-mentioned pollutants, hence the name three-way catalyst (TWC). 19. Deactivation of commercial three-way catalysts: effect of the thermal ageing
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis is a summary of my study on thermal deactivated commercial threeway catalysts (TWCs). The experiments were performed using gasoline and a E85 fuelmixture of 85 vol.% ethanol and 15 vol.% gasoline. LÄS MER
20. Catalytic formation of ammonia from nitric oxide
Sammanfattning : The emission of nitrogen oxides (NOx) from automobiles results in severe environmental and biological effects. Passive selective catalytic reduction (passive SCR) of NOx with ammonia (NH3) is a proposed method for abatement of NOx emissions in net lean-burn gasoline passenger vehicles. LÄS MER
