1. Development of a regeneration procedure for commercial automotive three-wy catalysts
Sammanfattning : Car exhaust catalysts were introduced in the early 1980’s, to limit the release of pollutants such as hydrocarbons, carbon monoxides and nitrogen oxides. These catalysts contain noble metals such as palladium (Pd), platinum (Pt) and rhodium (Rh) and are able to simultaneously abate all three of the above-mentioned pollutants, hence the name three-way catalyst (TWC). 3. Towards Optimal Real-Time Automotive Emission Control
Sammanfattning : The legal bounds on both toxic and carbon dioxide emissions from automotive vehicles are continuously being lowered, forcing manufacturers to rely on increasingly advanced methods to reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency. Though great strides have been made to date, there is still a large potential for continued improvement. LÄS MER
4. Mathematical Modelling in Catalytic Automotive Pollution Control
Sammanfattning : Design and control of honeycomb monolith reactors for catalytic automotive pollution control by mathematical modelling of the reactor has been studied. One aspect of the design has been that the use of metallic monolithic catalysts for automotive emission control raises certain optimization possibilities. LÄS MER
5. Towards a sustainable automotive industry : experiences from the development of emission control systems
Sammanfattning : From the mid-1970s and on, the contribution to air pollution of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides from gasoline passenger cars in the developed world has been reduced through co-evolution of regulation and commercial introduction of catalytic emission control technology, now part of hundreds of millions of cars, trucks and buses worldwide. This dissertation is a disaggregated study of the global introduction of catalytic emission control technology as a measure to reduce local air pollution. LÄS MER
